The question was about Hutton Gibson's view of the Catholic faith.

"My father never lied to me."

So we are to take that statement as meaning that Hutton Gibson never lied about the Catholic faith, but he might have lied about other things?

You're stretching. You know very well how Gibson meant his statement.

Dear sinkspur,

As quick as you were to defend him before he admitted to his terrible behavior, you now seem equally quick to condemn him.

I'll remember not to tell you my worst sins. ;-)

NO I am not stretching. For one thing in interviews where he is asked about the holocaust. Gibson states clearly that he believes it happen. He was asked at one point if he thought 6 million Jews had been killed in the holocaust. He answered "sure". That is hardly agreeing with his father's belief that Jews just up and left Germany and Eastern Europe.

And I sure do not agree with Hutton Gibson's view of the Catholic Church. But Mel Gibson was refering to what his father taught him about the faith. Not what his father believed about the holocaust.
