Where does it say anything about endowment of a soul in the creation account of Adam?

Genesis 2:7 - the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living being.

There is nothing in your post that is consistent with this passage.

...and man became a living being.... If you are trying to state that the qualification for living being is that it has a soul, then you can't do that.

Look at Geneisis 1:29, the birds of the air, the beasts of the earth and all creatures that move on the ground have "the breath of life" as well.

How are you therefore concluding that the human body existed but without a soul?

The breath of life does not equal soul.

Here

Zec 12:1 The burden of the word of the LORD for Israel, saith the LORD, which stretcheth forth the heavens, and layeth the foundation of the earth, and formeth the spirit of man within him.

Gen 2:7 And the LORD God formed man [of] the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul

1Cr 15:45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul;

(The breath of life does not equal soul)
Are you sure?

Isaiah 57:16
I will not accuse forever, nor will I always be angry, for then the spirit of man would grow faint before me— the breath of man that I have created.

The main focus of life in the Bible has always been the salvation of our soul. Is that not why we can have life after death? When God created us in His Image, was this reference to our bodies? I believe that it was the creation of our soul. He gave us a spiritual existence, in the same way He exist spiritually. He also gave us the traits that go with it. We have the ability to choose. We are free from being slaves to our instincts. We have imagination, and the ability to create, albeit on a much smaller scale. Most important, we have the ability to love, which is the greatest commandment, and also what God declares Himself to be.

1 John 4:8
Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
1 John 4:7-9 (in Context) 1 John 4 (Whole Chapter)
1 John 4:16
And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God

We belittle God when we try to make Him purely physical. The breadth of life is more than taking in and processing oxygen. If that were all it is, then we're all condemned to eventually die. Some day, inevitably, our bodies will give out, and we will not breath in oxygen. But, we will still exist in a spiritual sense. This is Life. If it's not, then why are we worshiping God in the first place? I have confidence in this! I worship God because I believe in eternal life with Him.

I do not think that it is belittling to Him to consider that His creation may be a much broader, and more extrordinary, than what is outlined in Genesis.

I think the scare is that if we do not take Genesis to be complete in it's detail, then how can we trust that the rest of the Bible is. Well, I ask, "What is the purpose of the Bible?" The story of creation in Genesis is beautiful. It is also short. We make it all the way to chapter 3 before prophesy of Christ begins. The key to everlasting life was prophesied throughout the Old Testament and fulfilled in the New Testament. Christ is the key to Life! That is the focus of the Bible.

I'm sure that if creation account in Genesis was as long as the New Testament there would be much fewer questions. God's concern however is us, and our life after death, that's why we have the Bible.

(...and man became a living being.... If you are trying to state that the qualification for living being is that it has a soul, then you can't do that.)

That's because mine says this

Gen 2:7 And the LORD God formed man [of] the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul
