Indeed. Why people don't just shut the **** up and get in the back of the bus is beyond me.

Well, if he wants to be a martyr that's one thing. But I guess being a criminal defense attorney I'm looking at it from the perspective of someone who has to represent people like this. I can just see this guy complaining like crazy later about the system screwing him and his lawyer not doing his job when the prosecutors dig their heels in with a really crummy offer. It will have been his own fault, but I bet you a dollar he'll be blaming everyone but himself when he finds out he's going down for a long time. He'll be telling his lawyer he's heard about this person and that person caught with the same amount or more plants getting a better deal than him, and he'll be insinuating that his lawyer is selling him down the river, not doing his job. I've just dealt with too many people like this. Maybe I'm jaded. He's just daring the prosecutor and the judge to send him down for a long time. He's begging for it. If he was my client I would be advising him not to do this sort of thing, at least until his case is concluded.
But, maybe he doesn't care. Maybe he thinks he's going to change minds and embolden marijuana law reform activists with the statement he is making. Maybe he's convinced that he'll make a difference in his cause and he feels that's worth a few extra years in prison. I kind of doubt he thought it through that much before he painted all the pot leaves on his house though. I have a feeling he's going to regret this later.
