SAFETY HARBOR, Florida (AP) -- Terri Schiavo's former husband has married his longtime girlfriend, friends and family members say.

Michael Schiavo and his longtime girlfriend, Jodi Centonze, were wed Saturday at a church in Florida. The bride's brother says it was a very emotional ceremony.

Schiavo's former wife, Terri, had suffered severe brain damage more than a decade ago and died last March after her feeding tube was removed.

Michael Schiavo had argued his wife was in a vegetative state, and would not want to be kept alive artificially.

...snip.....

The newlyweds first met in a dentist's office and began a relationship after Terri Schiavo was already in a nursing home. They have two young children.

<> Elementary dear Watson. The insurance company for the doctors and the hospital SETTLED. They made a financial deal and Schiavo dropped the suit. It is cheaper for malpractice insurance companies to give up the fight, than to press the case to clear the defendants. And it left open ever proving in court the true cause of Terri's injuries.

He spent 3/4 of it on the lawyer hired to get her killed. He spent THAT money lobbying to re-write FLorida's law to ALLOW him to kill her!

Of what was left, he spent little on her care, most on his life and support. Show me what was sent to HER CARE.

You left out Medicare fraud.

To add to what you said, the doctor was reinstated (or whatever it is called) after a full review of the case by the medical board, so that he could practice again. In other words, when the board looked at the case, they could find no wrong-doing by the doctor. Unfortunately, he had already settled with Michael. He kept his job, even though he had to pay dearly for it.

Only two doctors settled from what I read. The other doctor refused to settle and the jury awarded Michael S $2 million.

refresh my memory of your theory. If Michael had a hand in her original episode, why did he work so hard to help her the first few years?

Allow me. It took several years for the lawsuit to be settled. The Schindlers went broke helping Michael care for Terri, with the understanding that he would pay them back, and continue therapy. When the money came in, Michael immediately petitioned the court to start the ball rolling to deprive Terri of nutrition and hydration. He ordered that all therapy be stopped, and refused to allow the administration of antibiotics.

The timeline is what did it for me, years ago. Hildy, you're an intelligent person, so I don't understand how you cannot seem to follow a timeline.

Yes, Schiavo and Felos (who either owned or sat on the governing board of the hospice where Terri was admitted) committed MEDICARE fraud because MEDICARE is only suposed to pay for a limited time of care for hospice patients...I believe it is 6 months maxium but this issue was addressed in previous discussions of this case. Terri was in hospice for YEARS.

The medical basis for being admitted to hospice is that a doctor has diagnosed you as terminally ill with a limited life expectancy. This never occurred in Terri's case because even Felos could not find a doctor willing to compromise his professional integrity enough to sign the medical order. Nevertheless, her transfer took place out of nursing care and into a hospice. To die. How many patients ever come out of a hospice?

Remember that her transfer to hospice was done quietly and with such secrecy that her parents did not know until after the fact. Schiavo and Felos apparently got tired of waiting for her to die in the nursing home from a urinary tract infection (which Mike Schiavo issued medical orders NOT to treat) and could see Terri's trust fund being used for her care instead of being preserved to pay Felos legal bills to have her euthanized. So Felos arranged to transfer the cost of caring for Terri to the taxpayers.

Terri was denied DUE PROCESS. If there were real conservatives on this thread, they'd know how the constitution was mangled so that Terri could be murdered.

The "real conservatives on this thread" are busy waving their pompoms to the mangling of the constitution via The Patriot  Act so that Terri could have been more closely monitored. I would say without her knowledge but that goes without saying.

Micheal Schiavo and George Greer conspired to murder and did murder Terri Schindler-Schiavo. Those are the facts.

According to Sasquatch or the moon men?

I think the timeline did it for me, too, Anyone who is really seeking a fact based assessment of Mike's motives need only go through the legal depositions and check the (very short as I recall) time between jury award of malpractice damages (which were predicated on medical assessments that Mike needed to provide care for Terri for at least 30 years)....and Mike's post-award issuance of "DNR" order to Terri's nursing home.

And other timeline oddities. Such as Mike's almost immediately writing her obituary and arranging for her final disposition with a local funeral home.

I'm sure you know what happens when someone treats an animal the way Terri was treated. Your ass goes to jail! Of course I agree that they should. Now, if only people who treat other people like that could be given the same consideration.

Life is just upside down...

It is not possible to objectively state that Schiavo's testimony is "weightier" than Schindler's. Your assertion that it is, as if this were objective fact, is in reality a statement of your own opinion. You think Schiavo's testimony carries more weight.

Your accusation of murder is stated as if it were an objective fact when it is only your opinion. Stick to your own principles and maybe we won't have anything to argue about.

You missed the part where I imparted the amazing revelation that Scott Schiavo is the plaintiff's brother.

Your "amazing revelation" was that "corroborating evidence...was not forthcoming." In other words, your "amazing revelation" was false.

It still won't justify you putting words in my mouth.

All right, then why don't you tell us what you meant. "Scott Schiavo is a low-life for killing his wife. I understand that there is the distinct possibility that he was merely acting in accordance with her wishes, but that does not change the fact that he is a low-life. He is still a low-life for killing his wife because ______________."

Go ahead and fill in the blank with the appropriate words.

Not this nonsense again! I'm damned sick of it.

It's just more grist for the incurable busybodies and/or assorted nutcases here.

Oh -- and I'm GLAD he got married. Good for him!

According to law.

Right. Ping me when the indictment comes in. Or are you going to accuse the prosecutor of being in on the conspiracy too?

Amdgmary I believe, posted the church's website. It is a beautiful church, and yes it is a Catholic church. Maybe someone can find it and post it. I'll try to look for it, because I was pinged to it.

Why would I expect an indictment? And yes, you are right, there were many accomplices before the fact. Still: Murder, and Conspiracy to Murder. A rotten group down there, and just not sane person would expect the Germans in WWII to indict themselves for war crimes and genocide, a sane person cannot -- at least right now -- expect honest self-assesment to arise there in Florida.

Yet, a fully sane person cannot but remark that murder occurred.

Mock the Bishop. The courts, the legislature, other FReepers, the judge, Michael and his family, the people, the courts...but do nothing about the plank in your eye.

What about the blinders on your eyes? Mock the bishop? Listen bud, I had the extreme displeasure of being part of Roger Cardinal Mahoney's flock, off and on for many years. You want mockery????? Some of us are thoroughly disgusted about the way our bishops and cardinals take liberty with canon law. We are also very angry with our judicial system, and are taking steps to attempt to change the system to reflect the original constitution. I'll say it before you....fat chance.
