Intelligent Design Might Be Meeting Its Maker

TO read the headlines, intelligent design as a challenge to evolution seems to be building momentum.
...
Behind the headlines, however, intelligent design as a field of inquiry is failing to gain the traction its supporters had hoped for. It has gained little support among the academics who should have been its natural allies. And if the intelligent design proponents lose the case in Dover, there could be serious consequences for the movement's credibility.
On college campuses, the movement's theorists are academic pariahs, publicly denounced by their own colleagues. Design proponents have published few papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals.

PH, any room in your "Brain on Creationism" section? We have a contender here!
Post #827:
They think it's democratic, Darwinism should be voted, that my arguments do not make sense by sheer fiat of vote. They made themselves little gods, little imperialist people with little imperialist theories which reject empirical discussions, foundations of all science, they believe they themselves are Napoleons, voting... but are in fact people who ought to go the insane assylum....to jealous of their ivory tower access, they do not want the religious to even learn science, in the name of science, making themselves a white nut tower instead.

... any room in your "Brain on Creationism" section? We have a contender here! It's certainly a winner. But I like to use just one-liners, and that incoherent mass doesn't condense very well. Besides, that section is getting pretty full:
THIS IS YOUR BRAIN ON CREATIONISM (Actual debate posts).

When one side must resort to distortion, lies, and suppression of facts to compete in the arena of ideas, that side will ultimately lose.Ah, I get it, you mean like post #54 of this thread... Oh.... Wait....

Sounds like you can stick a fork in ID, because it's done. Wonder what it will be called next time around?

Thanks - it's hard to be generous to the arrogantly ignorant ones. These stupid points have been refuted so often, I just couldn't gather the energy to do it again. You're right though, it is necessary because there are the simply ignorant among us amenable to education.

Even the notion that the universe was created Last Thursday by the cat Queen Maeve? Are they narrow-minded to not let that be taught as an "idea" in public school science classrooms? Now you're just being plain silly.

The next time is already here. It's called Intelligent Evolution. They'll go for something blatantly political, like "People's Democratic Theory of Creation."

I have read of some cougar attacks in Readers Digest (yeah, I know, real reliable source but...) It seems as though they are losing their fear of humans and have been attacking people who are out biking or jogging on trails. I wouldn't feel safe with one around. I don't feel safe with those trails around, either. Stinkin' joggers and bikers think they own the planet.
Wait ...

Funny how this country was created by God believing folk; not you secular humanist types.

The only blight on this country is people like you and your crypto-socialist pals.

Don't talk of intelligence when you have still shown me none, any moron can rip apart someone Else's values system. My point in all this debate, is that Darwin's theory is just that, a theory. If one theory is to be presented, then other valid options should as well be presented. Also, I was not the first one to shift the burden of proof, read my first post, I asked for proof, and still have been presented with none, all you have done is attempt, and a feeble one at that to rip apart my beliefs system. A cowards tact.

"My point in all this debate, is that Darwin's theory is just that, a theory."
And that puts in the same company as every other theory in science. You say *just a theory* as if there is something higher for it to become.
"If one theory is to be presented, then other valid options should as well be presented."
Only if they are scientific theories. ID doesn't cut it.
"Also, I was not the first one to shift the burden of proof, read my first post, I asked for proof, and still have been presented with none,..."
You will find proof for NO theories in science. Proof is for mathematics and whiskey.
