I just noticed the pattern. Blue, blue, blue. Maybe he thinks it makes him look innocent? :)

I looked at the pics I have of JvdS, and in 6 of the 7, he's wearing a blue shirt.  In the 7th pic, he's making a gang hand sign.  I think that's a little bit more than coincidental.
