ORANJESTAD, Aruba - Three young men were charged with murder in the disappearance of an Alabama teenager at the time they were arrested, more than three weeks ago, Aruba's chief prosecutor told The Associated Press on Friday.

It was not announced at the time to protect the family of 18-year-old honors student Natalee Holloway, said Attorney General Karin Janssen.

"The three have been charged with the murder of Natalee Holloway from the beginning" of their arrest 10 days after the young woman went missing May 30, she said in an interview.

"At the time, we didn't want to upset the (Holloway) family talking about murder while they searched," she explained.

Janssen said the information was kept quiet in order not to compromise the investigation. Authorities have said they have no physical evidence suggesting Holloway is dead.

Am I so stupid that I don't understand this? Why would the police/justice department LIE to the family and all who support them for THREE WEEKS? Which is more upsetting??????

Interesting. As I said earlier...at this point I don't trust the authorities in Aruba. I wouldn't be surprised if they are simply trying to hold off the pressure that has been building up the last few days and circling the wagons. On the other hand, more generously, they may be trying to turn up the pressure on the three suspects. (Not so much to turn against each other but to lay out the entire truth which in my mind may include others.)

I think this is B.S. The Holloways endured four weeks of constant stress, anxiety, false hope and now the Prosecutor is saying this Bunk!

I believe some pressure from Shelby,Bachaus, and Sessions lit a fire up under the Dutch Govt assess. In a homicide investigation if the victim is really deceased, you do not put the family through any more grief/stress by waiting four weeks to tell them. This is a circus of a Banana Republic Investigation (attempted cover-up) B.S.

Even if the perps are brought to justice, we should still terminate our tourist dollars as a reminder(Don't F--k with America and our people. Let's bring them to their knees economically via the tourist industry. NSNR
