Let's look at your statement in a bit of detail. Judges? Last I checked, Souter, Kennedy and O'Conner were appointed by Republican presidents. Abortion? I don't see any GOP effort to go after Roe v. Wade. Anti-gun laws? Bush said he's sign the Assault Weapons Ban if it were renewed. Taxes to the eyeballs? Lower taxes are nice, but lower spending is how you truly measure the size of government - and Bush has been abysmal there. Socialist health care? As I recall, Bush pushed for a massive increase in Medicare last term. UN control? Bush keeps going back to that bunch for affirmation - and both Clinton and Bush waged war without UN approval when it suited them.
The GOP is better than the Dems - but only by degree, and no longer by core principles. The Contract with American seems to have joined the Constitution at the bottom of the litter box. Having gained the reigns of power, they kinda like the carriage, and apparently have no desire to de-pimp their ride.
As long as we just take the abuse like a battered spouse and come back home every election, we'll keep getting kicked in the teeth after they have our votes safely in their pockets. They need to realize that they cannot take us for granted, that we are the driving force behind their political power - they may need to kowtow to moderates to win the presidency, but that does not mean they need to BE moderate on all positions once they've won.
Now how about Ginsberg and the other supreme court fellow nominated by Bill Clinton, these are the kind of left wing judges you will get from a Democrat President and even much worse from someone as liberal as Hillary Clinton (by the way she will never be President).
Abortion: Did President Bush and the GOP Congress banned the murder of partial birth abortion. I recall that Bill Clinton refused twice to sign ban on partial birth abortion bill, and I think you remember this as well. The fighting against Roe vs Wade is long and we will chip at it once at a time.
UN: President Bush has defied the UN and it stupid corrupted body more than other President before him. How about the war of liberation in Iraq? I recall that he went against the impotent UN on this one.
