I gotta say, I'm pretty thin-skinned but I would NEVER let freaks drive me from this forum. I'm way too stubborn. Do people give up this easily in real life??

Hard to say. At some point if you feel like you're wasting your time making points that are getting constantly shouted down, packing up and looking for more intelligent conversation elsewhere seems like a reasonable course of action.

I've never posted at DU and rarely even take a peek. It's just an unpleasant place. If FR becomes the equivalent of DU for any extended period of time, I think I'd go elsewhere. It did become like DU recently, and it remains to see if that's an aberration or a permanent change.

I think it's a temporary thing, but if a lot of people like hchutch and poohbah leave, it's going to become a forum dominated by people I don't have much in common with. It's no fun to talk to people who only know how to spam every thread they're on, or only post one sentence replies that end in an exclamation point.

Some just reach a point where they feel they are just not in sync with the forum. Lately, with the lack of direction and guidence, the forum is kiltering.
