You know very well why this case is in the courts.

This happens every single day in this country and the decisions are made by the family members, even when some of them disagree.

Yes, I realize that .. and they are cases where there is no life remaining .. or no hope of being cured of their cancer or other disease

In this case .. there are many conflicts, bad lawyers and differences of opinion in the medical field

And since there are conflicts of what her wishes really are

She has been ordered by the court to die

One curious aspect to the complaints about the Schiavo case is the carping about how improper it is to have the courts making decisions where there is a dispute between family members. Where else would such disputes be resolved? State legislatures? Congress?

I can certainly understand disagreement with the court's ultimate decision (I disagree with court decisions almost daily), but the systemic objections are odd.
