I see more trolls!

The dead give away is your insults, instead of facts.

LOL

Here is a CLASSIC one from someone else.

"Rush said ABC, today, interviewed DR Kavorikn (sp?) in prison

to get Dr Death's view on Terri.

The culture of death has gone insane!"

"Jack Kevorkian is the last man I'd want to hear from."

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-backroom/1370047/posts?page=1113#1113

"I'd rather have him as my spokesman than Randall Terry."

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-backroom/1370047/posts?page=1118#1118

Why would anyone choose,
someone who is a convicted killer,
and in prison,
to be their spokesperson!

If a freeper ever says that Terri wasn't properly evaluated, throw this at them and remember, he was only one of four guardian ad litems:

The Guardian Ad Litem has made numerous and frequent visits to Theresa at the hospice where she resides, including an arranged visit with her parents to observe interactions. The Guardian ad Litem has met with and discussed aspects of Theresa's case with hospice staff, physician cardiologists, gastroenterologists, internists, neurologists, neurosurgeons, trauma specialists, anesthesiologists, swallowing disorder specialists; speech pathologists specializing in rehabilitation, swallowing tests and swallowing therapy; and with clergy, elder law specialists, bioethicists, and health policy specialists. In addition to reading the nearly 30,000 pages of court records, the Guardian Ad Litem has conducted a review of the medical literature and has received thousands of unsolicited documents, sources of referral, claims regarding successful interventions, and wishes of good luck. Governor Bush, to whom this report is directed, requested a meeting with the Guardian Ad Litem to discuss the charge. The Guardian Ad Litem met with the Governor, his General Counsel and private external counsel to review the Guardian Ad Litem's plan and direction. The meeting was valuable in establishing the expanded trust among the parties that the Guardian Ad Litem has sought to cultivate from the inception if his appointment.

Thank you Peach, but I have to tell ya... daylate_dollarshort has been the real trailblazer.

When I first started reading these threads a few months ago, I was totally clueless. Had I not seen him bravely posting the historical and medical facts (in the face of incredible flames you can only imagine), I wouldn't have known where the holes were in what has become urban legend. He's held my hand and answered a ton of questions for me. KDD and he both live down there and have been voices in the wilderness with their data.

All I did was follow up on what they were saying, and sure enough, the documented facts supported them at every turn.

Matt at abstract appeal was and is also invaluable.

All - now this I did NOT know. Note the last sentence and think about how many times you have been told the Catholic Church does not approve of this:

The current, generally accepted applications to terminal illness or persistent vegetative state define artificial feeding as artificial life support that may be withheld or withdrawn. In 1989, the Florida Legislature permitted the withdrawal of artificial nutrition and hydration under very specific circumstances. In 1999, following extensive bipartisan efforts, life-prolonging procedures were redefined as "any medical procedure, treatment, or intervention, including artificially provided sustenance and hydration, which sustains, restores, or supplants a spontaneous vital function." It is noteworthy that the general principle of artificial nutrition as artificial life support that may be removed in terminal and even vegetative state conditions is reflected in nearly all state's laws and within the guidelines of end of life care enunciated by the American Conference of Catholic Bishops and other religious denominations.

"To whoever hit abuse on G.Mason and post #184, THANKS."

You can run but I, and any others that may have read your accusation, have got your number.

You accuse falsely, and when confronted choose to ignore the issue.

You were wrong about my calling the subject names, and you were wrong about we being on the same side.

A lie, after all, is still a lie. ;)

Just thought I would take a break from my housecleaning, and see how far this thread has gotten...I was surprised, that it was still up and running, and has gotten so many posts on it...it really has been a pleasure to watch this thread as it continues to grow, and actually I am pleased that there are dissenters on here, so long as they can remain respectful of others opinions, and that the name calling, calls to violence, verbal threats, and rampant lying and gossiping are for the most part, nonexistant....

Good healthy debate, cannot exist when threats, name calling, violence, and lying and gossiping rule...good healthy debate, is in my opinion, always, always necessary...we should not want to be robots, in lock step with each other...we all have our opinions, we all have a right to those opinions, and we should be able to voice those opinions, without being verbally attacked...

Its a weak, weak mind, that cannot argue the merits of a subject, unless they name call, threaten, and lie...I know this subject is touchy for all, and in the heat of discussion, sometimes one or another person, in the heat of the moment, may call someone a name or act in a way, if they were more rational, they may not do...and that is definitely excusable...but to continue, in post after post, to constantly threaten, name call, and lie, then that becomes a pattern of abuse, which is not excusable...

So for me dissent is fine, so long as it does not sink into the mud...which unfortunately is what has happened all too often on most of the Terri Shiavo threads...they have become rah-rah mudfests...its embarrassing, its rude, its just plain wrong...

Just my opinion...

I had a doctor today on FR tell me this was impossible. And yet, here it is:

Three, independent sets of swallowing tests were performed early in Theresa's medical treatment: 1991, 1992 and 1993. Each of these determined that Theresa was not able to swallow without risk of aspiration (and consequent infection).

Swallowing tests and swallowing therapy address many of the core issues in contention. If Theresa can swallow, then she can take nutrition and hydration orally, and it is argued that she would not elect to stop eating. But to orally eat and drink, Theresa must possess cognitive capacity beyond mere reflex, or she will not only fail to ingest, but could easily aspirate substances into her lungs and be subjected to infections and subsequent death.

You've been here awhile. How many times does someone post the same thing over and over before being deemed disruptive?

Well, there shouldn't have to be a Living Will. My spouse, if married, should be able to speak for me when needed. But of course, many now want the government to act as nanny, since the Tom DeLay knows me better than my spouse, I guess.

On the other hand, I think providing an advance directive/living will document helps give the survivors some guidance regarding your wishes, so it's good to provide one as a courtesy to the person who would make those decisions.

But DEFINITELY don't take a generic form and fill it out carelessly. Requirements vary by state. Here in Pennsylvania, it doesn't have to be notarized, but I have mine notarized and witnessed just because I don't want any questions... And also I hope I'll then have no problems with "do-good" meddlers trying to interfere.
