I didn't suggest that lawbreakers should be first in line to be "guest workers" and that fast road to citizenship. If there was a legal ----- open to all people --- guest worker program, Haitians and many others could arrive legally and safely. There is absolutely no reason that we would need "guest workers" from only one country. We've never had immigration like this before where all others are barred and only one country is given exclusive rights to dump as many of their citizens as they choose.

But we DID have a program in which people from one country (Mexico) were able to work here. And back then, the border with Mexico was not as big of a problem as it is now.

I suggest the lack of such a program and the present problems are connected. If you disagree, please explain why.
