I always thought Stop & Shop was a stupid name for a supermarket. No imagination.
My favorite name for a supermarket is Piggly Wiggly. When I’m down South, I do the trifecta: Waffle House for breakfast, Piggly Wiggly for groceries and one of those all you can eat for $7.99 buffet joints that are everywhere down there. Big steaming trays over Bunsen burners heaped high with fried chicken, fried okra, biscuits, bacon, fried catfish, beans, cornbread and all that stuff. The dessert table groaning, and I do mean groaning, with peach cobbler, apple pies, blackberry pies, and a huge refrigerator size device that dispenses soft serve ice cream.
All washed down with iced sweet tea.
I can’t understand in-n-out burger as an enticing business name. All I can envision as a prolonged session on the throne.
I’m surprised that Piggly Wigglys are still around.
