The US government operates on the basis that each individual is able to cast their free vote for wise elected officials who will do what's best for the nation within the confines of a written Constitution.

Many negatives combined do not equal a positive.

They had the confidence that many free individuals combined would equal a positive government.

If they were that naive the country wouldn't still be here.
