Harley - deep breaths....cmon LOL my friend
A hyper arminian is a humanist -
I'd consider it a dirty word, were not for its accurate description. IMO this nonsense and posturing over hyper this or hyper that is a fiegned offense that is neither genuine (again IMO) nor entirely well thought
Hypo (under) / Hyper (over) - "hyper-c" is merely an overstatement or extreme position of the systematic theology
Heaven forbid anyone give an inch in the tug o war though
Based upon the description of a hyper-calvinist, Ive compiled a list of what a hyper-arminian would most likely be. I draw this conclusion using the opposite of a hyper-calvinist posted by ctd. If this list is accurate I would say a great deal of arminians are hyper. I also noticed the focus on man rather than God.
1. God elects or damns based upon mans sovereign choice.
2. The mind of man is good and can make reasonable choices.
3. Fallen men have a duty to believe in the Gospel by faith.
4. Men do not have to be regenerated before they can believe the Gospel
5. The Gospel must be offered to all men everywhere.
6. The Gospel can be offered to men in an unregenerated state and they can choose whether to accept or reject.
7. God loves all men regardless.
8. Atonement does not have to be believed in order to hear the Gospel, and be saved and converted.
9. Everything God has decree He has desired. Things which exists that God does not desire exists because of mans sinful nature.
