One of the half-dozen people treated for injuries at The Palace was taken to a hospital by ambulance and another sought treatment, police said.

"At this time, we don't have any indication of major injuries, Mynsberge said.

Artest did not appear to land punches, but Jackson did. Jermaine O'Neal later struck a fan after he was hit in the head by a chair as chaos reigned at the Palace.

I guess if the injuries were pretty mild then the charges won't really amount to too much. In the end it looks like mostly a big scuffle --- a few punches and a lot of beer and chair throwing. If no one was seriously injured and only a few needed any treatment, maybe it looks way worse than it actually was. If a 290 pure muscle-man like Artest didn't land some puny guy in the hospital --- he was restraining his punches. Artest later punched a fan on the court who rushed at him and tried to land a blow.

That didn't come out quite right. I would think that if no serious injuries resulted --- the players were just giving love-taps to the fans. The size of Artest alone could have him doing some real damage to the more petite fans who attacked him --- but if few and mild injuries were the only result --- then he didn't really violently go after anyone even though rushing at the into the stands looks dramatic.
