7 Dead in High Speed Car Chase
Sierra Vista Police Department ^ | Unpublished | HiJinx

Posted on 10/16/2004 2:37:27 PM PDT by HiJinx

This is breaking. A high speed chase around Sierra Vista and on to Ft. Huachuca has resulted in 7 deaths and 14 injuries.

A stolen car with 5 people inside led police on a high speed chase along the Highway 90 bypass and on to Ft. Huachuca at speeds in excess of 100MPH.

The stolen vehicle hit new barricades at the East Gate Checkpoint and crossed over the median, striking an outbound vehicle.

4 people in the stolen car have died, and 3 other people are also dead. 14 people are injured.

There are no further details regarding the 3 dead or the injured. As the story develops, I will try to post more.

Well, hopefully it'll go over better than Operation Moped--that was one of our less successful enterprises.

Yes, that was pretty uninspired..
..but we did sucker some people into buying them.

True--as long as we took over at least one mind, I consider it a successful operation, in keeping with our motto: "Taking over the world, one customer at a time."

there was an accident similar to this in Temecula, California, where the Border Patrol was chasing an SUV full of illegals which diverted into a residential area and struck several cars and pedestrians, all of which were high-schoolers on their way to school.

Yup. I remember that, more brutally slaughtered American's at the hands of illegal aliens.

LOL! I think I come across a moped somewhere about an average of once every ten years :) When were they "in", anyway?

*scratches head*
They were big in a few areas I lived in back in the 80's, and made a short lived revival in the 90's with nostalgic hippy types..

I remember in the 70s they were kind of past their peak already. I think I noticed the revival you mention. Hmmm--maybe they *are* just nostalgiac and they never were actually in style.

I tried to stage an 8-track comeback once but it didn't work very well. . .

LOL! I actually know one person who bought a Beta player when they came out and still uses it because everything he's got taped is on Beta. I'm just glad when we were kids my brother and I were able to talk our Dad out of investing in a Beta lifetime membership at the video store. . .

Another of FR's best and brightest!

I know this happened in our universe, and probably in the United States.

But

Might it be too much to expect the state to be listed? This isn't Aunt Margie's family newsletter any more.

The two local victims: "James Lee, 74, and Emilia Lee, 71, of Huachuca City, were killed when the pickup hit their vehicle."

May God Bless their souls, and provide comfort to their family.

it made me realize that maybe my car did end up in Mexico somewhere. :(

And is being driven around by some son or daughter of some police chief or something similar.

It appears that these small-town police did not follow reasonable pursuit policies.

It depends --- some of these highways are pretty desolate and going very fast is the norm not the exception. The other thing --- if someone crashes through the pretty much non-existent border going over 100 mph heading for the nearest military base --- it probably isn't a good idea just to let them be. Not with the War against Terrorism going on and after 9-11.
