I stand by my statement. With no security, people are (or should be) more vigilant, considering the stakes. With a false sense of security, people tend to sit back and think "It couldn't happen again." And, as Israel has shown us with a contiguous border a heck of a lot shorter than ours, it can, again and again.

"Fortress America" doesn't work. But then again, neither is our current laissez-faire approach to securing the border good enough for me.
