Isn't so much about a pre-set limit as it is a limitation of the programming. There are tricks to get around it by using a certain type of hexidecimal scientific notation, but high precision also requires more horsepower on the server end running the code.

It'd be easier just to recompile for 32-bit addressing. Even better would be rolling the entire server cluster up to Opterons and Adv. Server 2003 64-bit or even RedHat Enterprise Server 64-bit. Re-code for 64-bit and viola... trillions of address spaces and the bandwidth through the processors core to handle it. Not to mention scads of memory space most of the AMD Opteron boards come with. I tested one that I was able to load with 64GB of RAM. Unfreaking real...
