I once had a bird end up on my doorstep that I swear was a baby hawk. I took him to our 24-hour clinic that also did raptor rescue, and they said he was a chicken. (Didn't look or sound like any chicken I'd every seen, but...)
I called a fellow who had cows and chickens and such up in Trabuco Canyon and he said he'd be happy to take my "chicken". When we got there he took one look and said it was a "chucker" (whatever that it.) He was delighted to have it.
