I appreciate your thoughtful response. I agree and I have not gone over to the "darkside" yet. I wish more people would discuss the issue by taking the same road you do. It would go a lot further convincing others of the need to stay the course then attacking others and calling them names.
It is a pity that this thread has now been moved to the backroom.

Like it was said earlier...it really is just a choice of the lesser of two evils....some choice for the greatest nation in history!

The Contract With America and subsequent, albeit temporary, rebirth of Conservativism and America, probably would have never come about if it weren't for the likes of you and Bush I.
The choice between a demon and the devil isn't a choice for many people.

Actually right now I'm just here to expose the irrational types. It's a very simple method: All I do is post factual, relevant, unobtrusive statements, and then watch as the irrational people fly into hysterics over it. It's kind of fun, actually.

Amen to that. I had some ancestors who didn't have their equal protection under the law, either. Only that persecution wasn't race-based, it was on the basis of religion.
Quite frankly, a lot of those folks who want to call themselves conservative, and who engage in making comments that are close to bigotry are a MAJOR reason why it's so hard to get folks off the RAT plantation. The same "real conservatives" who mouth off about race and certain other issues are the ones Jesse Jackson and his ilk point to.

I was involved with county level politics for a number of years. I once ran a republican and a democrat, together, for county commissioner office. We won both slots in landslides. That was in PA.

A US Senate campaign is state politics?
Then why the hell was Bush stumping for Sprectum?
You aren't very bright...

The thing is, poliics is just a 'team sport' to most voters. They don't take this stuff seriously. It's al ljust a game to them.
They only want *their* team to win, and the *other* team to lose.
They don't want to actually understand these complex issues, don't care about actual ideology much, don't care what their team does once they win.
Most 'voters' just aren't serious about this stuff.
To: Mikey
If the three choices are Hitler and Stalin and Mother Teresa, and only the first two have a realistic chance of winning, then you better vote for whichever of them is the lesser evil and not Mother Teresa, or you're just plain stupid.
Politics is not a form of religion. God is not sitting up there tallying your votes. When you vote for A he does not become your vicarious theological head.
You are morally responsible for the difference between whatever would have happened if you had voted A and whatever did happen because you voted B.

It's not chicken. I, unlike you, do not feel that other people need my input to make decisions concerning matter of which I have no knowledge, namely things going on in their own states.
I'm not obsessed with everybody agreeing with me.

Going "back" to when the original document was created...You're still injecting this word "when". Nobody's talking about going back to "when". The suggestion was to simply change the document, not the entire society.
Do you think that reinstating the free-market policies of the 19th century would take us back to the economic conditions of the 19th century? It's a serious question, because many liberals try to make the same argument. (not saying you're a liberal, I'm just trying to point out some parallels)

I know. And the ones that are serious are too self-absorbed to actually understand what they're doing to America. You nailed it.

Who is the enemy within?
To even assume a third party would do better is idiotic. Number one they can't even get elected in the House or state offices. They can't build a base in small state elections so they go straight for the Presidency but all they do is draw a few nuts away and give the other party the election. why don't you guys win an election at the city level before you act like you can lead a country.

Unless you're now contending that people from other states have VOTES in those states, yes, it IS a state matter.
I'm bright enough to see what a troll you are.
I'll stand with Jim Robinson on this one; Go, Bush, Go!

And the ones that are serious are too self-absorbed to actually understand what they're doing to America. I'd actually point out that the ones who are serious are 'issue-oriented' independents and don't "belong" to any political team.
The few of us there are left out here.
The rest don't care. Especially most "Rs" or "Ds". By far the majority don't spend a second worrying about the actual results of "their" team's win. Their to busy looking forward to the next game.
It's a 'forest for the trees' thing.
