Why Republicans disgust me

Do you want to know why the Republican Party disgusts me?
Just take a look at the Pennsylvania Republican primary for the U.S. Senate seat held by Arlen Specter.
Specter is a disgusting old political hack who doesn't deserve to be dogcatcher of Bucks County. Yet, he has served four terms in the Senate.
He claims to be a Republican, but he supports few positions in the Republican platform. He is pro-abortion. He is pro-homosexual. He is a big spender. He is a big-government liberal by any standard you want to use.
Finally, this year, someone within the party decided to challenge Specter a young congressman named Pat Toomey.
Toomey, 42, didn't have much of an organization. He didn't have a lot of money. But he did have grass-roots support from conservatives people who actually believe in Republican Party principles, not just politicians who call themselves Republicans.
But the party establishment rushed to Specter's defense. Not only did President Bush weigh in to support the 74-year-old Specter, who is on the wrong side of nearly every issue under the sun, but so did the usually reliable junior senator from Pennsylvania, Rick Santorum.
Despite the money advantages, the endorsements and the party establishment firmly behind him, Specter managed to squeak out a victory of less than 20,000 votes in a contest where more than 1 million were cast.
The Republican leadership's way of thinking about this race focuses on Specter being in line for the chairmanship of the Judiciary Committee next year. But that should be reason for opposing him, not supporting him.
In 1987, Specter opposed President Reagan's appointment of Judge Robert Bork to the Supreme Court. He betrayed his own Republican president and a very good jurist. Why the Republican establishment would remain loyal to this unprincipled liberal is beyond me.

So aside from the Republicans being the home team, what exactly do you dislike about the Democrats? -Impeached rapists walking free
-Vandalism and theft from the White House and Air Force One
-James Carville spewing lies and hate
-McDermott going to Iraq to side with our enemies
-Michael Moore spewing lies and hate, in between bites
-Providing missile technology to China
-Receiving campaign contributions from China
-John F'in Kerry, the Vietnam war "hero" who sold out his fellow veterans while they were still taking bullets
-Janet Reno - Waco and protecting perpetually lying, impeached rapists
-Al Gore trying to steal Florida while simultaneously robbing our military members of their hard-earned right to vote
-Their behavior at the Wellstone memorial campaign rally
-The horrendous double standard imposed by the media between Republicans and Democrats
-Tom Daschle nicely and disappointedly spewing lies and hate...

Stab in the back????
Why does Bush call himself a compassionate "conservative"??? Why does'nt he call himself a compassionate "REPUBLICAN"???
You don't suppose he was trying to con those nasty conservatives into voting for him do you????
I bet if Bush called himself a "compassionate socialist" he would get even more votes. At least that would be more honest.

"They champion appeasement, socialism, radical social engineering and radical environmentalism."
So do Republicans. So you cannot really provide any reason to support Republicans over Democrats, other than that Republicans are the local team.
Answer me this, what President instituted the first federal affirmative action program? What president created the EPA? What president pushed through the biggest expansion of the welfare state in 35 years? All 9 of the US Supreme Court Justices were nominated or confirmed by Presidents or Senates of what party?
There is not a dimes worth of difference between the two parties, that's why you cannot give any reason to vote for one over the other. That's why you act like politics is nothing more than a football game.
The Houston Republicans vs. the Boston Democrats... SUNDAY! SUNDAY!! SUNDAY!!!

Why are the Democrats the enemy? Just because they're the opposing team?
They used to be the enemy because they were liberals, but now that the Republican party is slightly less as far left as they are, it can't be that.
So tell me, what specifically do you dislike about the Democrats. It's not because they're tax and spend liberals, because the Republicans are too. It's not because they're trying to subvert US independence, because the Republicans are too.
So aside from the Republicans being the home team, what exactly do you dislike about the Democrats? If you can defend Democrats on this forum in any shape, form, or fashion, you should be thrown out on your head.

"Thats how it has always worked"
Not before 1913.
"and the Prez. has a lot of influence on incubents who want to be reelected"
And this will be Arlen Specter's last term. He's retiring in 2010, he's not going to run for re-election again after November.
So what power will Bush have over him? None.

Yes...stabbed in the back....
Well...go ahead and get your little payback by not voting for the President, and when John Kerry is being sworn in as President, you can watch smug and secure that you "certainly told Bush" what you think about his conservative compassion.
January 20, 2005! What a day of rejoicing that will be...at least in your household. I hope you have the champagne chilling!

You didn't even read my post, and you tell me to leave for writing something you didn't even read?
I asked a question, instead of answering you try to demonize me.
Yeah, that's right, you found me, I'm James Carville. You got me, now you won't have to worry about being asked any more hard questions.
Geez.
