"Rush who has admitted to being an addict of legal PRESCRIPTION!!! drugs for a legitimate, extremely painful medical problem?"
Which he purchased Illegally, thereby BREAKING THE LAW.
Sorry, you can't have it both ways. If you don't like the Law, change the Law, but as it stands, Rush either had a Legal Prescription for his Drugs, or he didn't. If he didn't, his obtaining them, and taking them was a violation of law.
Period.

And, if he did buy them illegally, I expect him to get what other first time offenders get...NOTHING.

The problem is that there are many who, for some reason, want Rush to be thrown in prison for something that John Doe would get community service and/or probation for.

Which he purchased Illegally, thereby BREAKING THE LAW. maybe. but i see it as on the level as having an unregistered gun in NYC.
possession of the item is neither illegal or immoral, it's a matter of not having the goveernment approved paperwork.
Jail time? No.

I never said that Rush shouldn't be punished pain or no pain. My point is that he should get punishment commensurate with the misdeed. I don't believe people like Daryl Strawberry should be in jail for abusing illegal drugs. I certainly don't believe people like Limbaugh should do time for something that transpired because of a medical condition with legal prescription drugs.
