Rush didn't do conservatives any favors in this episode , but... it does point out some things I felt about the Clintons. When you do things you don't want to be public knowlege, you set yourself up for blackmail. In the case of Clinton it was a matter of national security. In the case of Rush it was a matter of personal embarassment. A huge difference. I also wouldn't buy a Clinton arguement of being addicted to BJ's from young chubby interns as even a lame excuse. Rush could have done a much better job of dealing with both his pain and the addiction it apparently caused. Even with the legal wranglings going on he has been more up front than our ex POTUS about the problem. If it had been the average person in either of the cases , it wouldn't be anything for law enforcement to even look into.

My thing is, what does it matter whether Rush is addicted to painkillers or not. Without this story breaking or Rush admitting to it, would anyone outside of a small circle of Rush's friends and family have known?
Now of course, an addiction like that does hurt others, as any addiction does, but we're talking in an emotional sense. And hell, you can hurt people emotionally with or without drugs. And AFAIK, hurting others emotionally is not a crime.
Just goes to show you how silly the idea of punishing people or drug use is. It's a victimless crime, on a societal level.
