According to the Cumberland Times-News, Manchin told town hall attendees that “gun control should be governed by common sense.” He then criticized constitutional carry, suggesting that more criminals will carry, now that the law does not require a permit. Manchin said, “Before, we always knew who we were chasing — the bad guy — but we knew most of the people didn’t have a gun concealed, and if they did, they were responsible. We don’t know that anymore. So I’m for responsible gun control.”

Fayette County Commissioner Vincent Vicites was shot early Sunday in his residence in South Union, county District Attorney Richard Bower said. Bower said he was meeting with Uniontown state police Sunday afternoon, and that the shooting remained under investigation. He declined to give details, or say if anyone was facing charges in the incident. Bower said Vicites is in stable condition at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va. A West Virginia lawmaker said Saturday he regrets tweeting that Hillary Clinton should be “hung on the mall in Washington, D.C.,” as punishment for her use of a private email server as secretary of state. On Sunday, West Virginia’s Unborn Child Protection from Dismemberment Act officially took effect. The law, which bans D&E abortions, passed in February but was vetoed by Governor Earl Ray Tomblin. A West Virginia woman died after suffering a “fat embolism” while undergoing plastic surgery to increase the size of her gluteal region.  Heather Meadows, a 29-year-old mother of two, was killed by fat particles that entered her bloodstream through a vein during a lipid transfer procedure. The fat particles clogged arteries in her heart and lungs, causing cascading organ failure and death.
