Journalist Jeff Greenfield, writing in the September 17 Politico magazine, somehow can't figure out the real reason "Why Woodward's 'Fear' Flopped in Washington." Greenfield makes a light attempt to find out the reason for the flop but seems to be unable to see the all too obvious.  So let us join Greenfield as he stumbles around while ignoring the very large elephant in the room whose stink is something that liberals don't want to dwell on, which is that Woodward couldn't find evidence of Trump-Russia collusion:

Washington Post Associate Editor Bob Woodward warned that revealing the sources for his book Fear: Trump in the White House “might get somebody killed” during a Monday interview on C-SPAN’s Washington Journal. Woodward was asked — via a question posed on Twitter — about a possible subpoena of his notes and recording from special counsel Robert Mueller or the Justice Department:

Bob Woodward, whose bestselling anti-Trump book Fear has got Washington tongues wagging, told talk show host Hugh Hewitt on Friday that despite looking "hard" for two years, he could find no evidence of collusion between Donald Trump and the Russians in the 2016 presidential election. HH: So let’s set aside the Comey firing, which as a Constitutional law professor, no one will ever persuade me can be obstruction. And Rod Rosenstein has laid out reasons why even if those weren’t the president’s reasons. Set aside the Comey firing. Did you, Bob Woodward, hear anything in your research in your interviews...

Veteran reporter Bob Woodward said Friday that he conducted a thorough investigation into possible Trump-Russia collusion while researching his latest book, “Fear: Trump in the White House,” but found no evidence of a conspiracy. “Did you Bob Woodward hear anything in your research or your interviews that sounded like espionage or collusion?” conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt asked Woodward during an interview. “I did not. Of course I looked for it, looked for it hard,” replied Woodward.

Veteran reporter Bob Woodward on Friday told radio host Hugh Hewitt he looked "hard" for evidence of collusion between President Donald Trump and Russia but didn't find anything. But he still thinks the special counsel Robert Mueller has "something" on the president. Woodward suggested Mueller possibly has "a secret witness or somebody who has changed their testimony." Trump has firmly rejected allegations of collusion between his campaign and Russia in the 2016 US presidential election and often refers to the Mueller probe as a "witch hunt." Veteran reporter Bob Woodward on Friday told conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt he looked...

basically fake news.... President Trump strongly criticized Bob Woodward's new book, "Fear: Trump in the White House," as "a total fraud," "work of fiction" and "totally discredited." But Woodward said he drew from hundreds of hours of interviews for his book, which is published by Simon & Schuster, a division of CBS. The book depicts a chaotic White House with details from participants and witnesses to the Trump administration. Asked whether he would release any of the interview tapes, Woodward told "CBS This Morning" on Thursday: "Well, if somebody really wants to challenge me, of course. Of course. But I...

It's déjà vu all over again, in Yogi Berra's memorable expression: senior unelected FBI officials conspiring with the Washington Post and New York Times to drive a Republican president from office. Kudos to Jim Hoft of Gateway Pundit for spotting a 2014 State Department email from SecState Hillary's aide Sid Blumenthal that was declassified and released in 2015. In it, Blumenthal states as a fact that Bob Woodward has been an "FBI asset" since the days of Deep Throat. See for yourself

Bob Woodward's new book, "Fear: Trump in the White House," sold more than 750,000 copies through its first day of release, the most for any title in Simon & Schuster history, according to the 94-year-old publisher. The investigative book by the veteran Watergate reporter, who has written books about every administration dating back to President Nixon, was powered by excerpts published before the book's public release Tuesday and President Trump's public rejection of it. Trump called the book "a con on the public" consisting of quotes that are "made up frauds" designed to boost Democrats ahead of the 2018 midterm...

Veteran journalist Bob Woodward claims he has “boxes of recordings and documents” to back up the accounts made his explosive book, “Fear: Trump in the White House.” In an interview with CNN host Anderson Cooper on Wednesday night, Woodward said he recorded “almost all” of the interviews he conducted with current and former Trump administration officials for his new book, which President Trump and the White House have repeatedly sought to discredit. “The deal was I would interview somebody, they would be a confidential source,” Woodward told Cooper. “I know who they are, they're describing specific events.” “Often there are...

Chapters and worse With all his merchandising ventures — steaks, vodka, clothes, deodorant — why didn't Donald Trump ever start a book-of-the-month club? Though he's not much of a reader himself, the Trump name is showing Oprah Winfrey-like power in the publishing world. Even with a million copies printed, Simon & Schuster is struggling to keep up with demand for Bob Woodward's "Fear: Trump in the White House." Amazon ran out of hardcover copies after Tuesday's first day of sale. Now Stormy Daniels has announced she will have a book out on Oct. 2 that will include details of her...

Veteran journalist Bob Woodward said a “key” official in the Trump administration privately told him that the details in his books are “1000 percent true,” but later publicly defamed him. Woodward was interviewed on The New York Time’s podcast, “The Daily,” on Tuesday — the day his book “Fear: Trump in the White House” was officially released. Woodward told reporter Michael Schmidt that after excerpts of his book began circulating last week, someone working for the administration called him to praise the accuracy of his book. “After the information in ‘Fear’ started breaking last week, one key person who’s in...

Bob Woodward’s new book “Fear” presents a scathing depiction of President Donald Trump’s administration. Woodward has a muddy history with a trail of allegations that he embellished the truth or otherwise misled his readers. Media coverage of Woodward’s book has been largely positive and ignores Woodward’s controversial record.

Longtime journalist Bob Woodward said Monday that Defense Secretary Jim Mattis and White House Chief of Staff John Kelly “are not telling the truth” when they deny making disparaging statements about President Donald Trump attributed to them in his new book, “Fear.” Kelly is quoted calling Trump “an idiot,” and Mattis is quoted saying Trump has the understanding of “a fifth or sixth-grader,” but they’ve said they didn’t make those statements. Woodward, asked on Monday on NBC’s “Today” show about their denials, said, “They are not telling the truth.” He said “these are political statements to protect their jobs.” The...

Pardon me for the reference to Yeats's poem "The Second Coming," but events this week reminded me of the poem and this line: "the worst are full of passionate intensity." On the one hand, we have the most effective president in my lifetime, who has, as John Hinderaker details , pulled this country out of the economic doldrums, which were the direct result of the idiotic policies of his predecessor in office: American wages unexpectedly... Unexpectedly! ...climbed in August by the most since the recession ended in 2009 and hiring rose by more than forecast, keeping the Federal Reserve on...

Donald Trump had to be tricked out of killing a U.S.-South Korean trade deal? He threatened to move a U.S. missile defense system from South Korea to Oregon? He ordered a plan for a pre-emptive attack on North Korea? These supposed moves by Trump, detailed in journalist Bob Woodward's new book, will cause bafflement and worry among government officials in Seoul. But, for many South Koreans, they just add more pieces of evidence to an established picture of an erratic U.S. leader who thinks little of an alliance forged in the turmoil of the Korean War and often described here...

"It's very depressing. You want to read a depressing book, this is it," said one critic of a book by Bob Woodward. "It's a sad, horrible story with all the sordid details that I guess people will just, you know, slaver over, but the fact of the matter is, it's humorless and there's no warmth." In his criticism of Woodward's book Wired about his friend John Belushi, Dan Aykroyd captured the essence of the Woodward writing style: lots of little trees competing for air in a gloomy forest, often at the expense of the larger picture. One can expect the...

Veteran journalist Carl Bernstein on Thursday called for Congress to hold hearings on President Trump's fitness for office. "What we need here are, finally, I think, some hearings in which an executive session or open session, those around the president of the United States are questioned about the fitness of Trump to be the president of the United States," Bernstein, a CNN political analyst, said on the network. Bernstein justified his call by citing excerpts from former reporting partner Bob Woodward's new book and an op-ed from an anonymous senior Trump administration official who argued that the president's actions are...
