Twelve states filed a lawsuit against the Obama administration on Friday seeking to block an Environmental Protection Agency proposal to regulate coal-fired power plants in an effort to stem climate change. The plaintiffs are led by West Virginia and include states that are home to some of the largest producers of coal and consumers of coal-fired electricity. The suit was filed in the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia. SAINT ALBANS, WV - A man is facing two felonies after he and a teenager broke into a home to eat and have sex. Saint Albans police were called to the 2000 block of Grant Avenue in Saint Albans, West Virginia at about 8 p.m. on July 30. When police arrived at the home, they found a side door opened. Inside they found a 15-year-old girl and a man she said was her boyfriend and only 16-years-old and named Michael Meadows.

The main branch of the Raleigh County Public Library has surveillance video of a person vandalizing the flagpole and cutting down the American flag. The incident happened at midnight between Sunday, July 27 and Monday, July 28. Officials with the library said that a person stood outside the library and made sure that no one was inside at the time. The person then cut the rope in three places and watched as the flag hit the ground, before the person walked away.

WHAG NEWS - A Hedgesville high school teacher is facing sexual assault charges accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a student. The Berkeley County Sheriff's Office confirmed Erin Thomas is charged with third degree sexual assault and two charges of computer harassment. Officials say the 31-year-old allegedly had a relationship with a female student that began last year when she was a Freshman.

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A bear was hit and killed Monday by a vehicle in Kanawha County, according to Kanawha County Sheriff's dispatchers. There was no word exactly where it happened or if the bear was possibly one of the two black bears spotted earlier in the South Charleston area. Those two bears made their first appearance Monday morning along Interstate 64 near the Montrose exit. South Charleston Police, who investigated the case of the bear hit and killed, confirmed it happened but had no immediate information where or when.

Police spent much of Tuesday searching for a fugitive. During the search West Virginia State Troopers and the Mason County Sheriff's Department said they had to shoot and kill a woman's dog. Police spent almost 12 hours searching for Johnathon Jeffers, but with no luck. At one point during the search, police came out of the woods and onto Ginger Sweats’ property in Mason County.
