An alligator was captured in Pittsburgh's Beechview neighborhood Thursday night. The animal was taken to the Humane Animal Rescue in Homewood. CEO of the shelter, Dan Rossi, said the animal is not happy and is stressed out. Rossi said officials are not sure yet if the alligator was male or female. He added the five-foot long reptile was a potential danger in the Beechview neighborhood. He said if people can no longer care for their exotic pets, call their helpline at 412-345-7300. This is the second alligator captured in Pittsburgh in less than a month. Another one was found in...

This cemetery in Yekaterinburg is a final resting place for many local stars and war heroes. But one section of the cemetery surrounded by pine trees is special. It is full of huge granite grave-stones with giant realistic portraits of people – many of them wear leather jackets or expensive suits, have thick gold chains and tattoos, hold cigarettes or keys from a Mercedes… All of them belong to representatives of the criminal world murdered in the 1990s – early 2000s. –nextpage–

The Appearance of the Fierce Lykoi Kitty! Scary as they might be, their appearance is really just down to the breed not having an undercoat, and beauty really is in the eye of the beholder. Lykois have the roan pattern, which is an intermix of normal color hair with white hair, and the mandatory balding of the hair coat. Kittens appear quite normal at birth and only begin to lose their coats a week or two after birth when they start to look fluffy. At three to four month, the kitten will have the Lykoi appearance. Although the coat appears...

The 5-year-old stepson of a British woman who lives as a man, with the child’s mother, is now “transitioning” to a girl, the couple has revealed. They also complain that they’ve suffered “insults” at the hands of people online and their neighbors, and they’ve also been reported to social services. What, exactly, these insults are was not specified in an article covering the couple on Heart. They’re adamant, however, that they’re not responsible for the child’s gender confusion and that the “transition” is what’s best:
  • House Democratic leaders bottle up effort to censure Iowa Rep. Steve King

House Democratic leaders blocked an effort to censure Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) for racial comments, referring the measure to the House Ethics Committee for further review due to concerns that it might set a dangerous precedent for policing members’ speech. Censure is the most serious sanction for a House member short of expulsion, and it has been imposed only six times in the past 100 years. Prompted by King’s recent comments to the New York Times questioning the offensiveness of the terms “white nationalism” and “white supremacy,” the House adopted a resolution condemning that hatred Tuesday. But Rep. Bobby L....

"Morning Joe" lovebirds Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski wed last Saturday in a private ceremony at the National Archives in Washington, D.C. They apparently pulled some strings to secure the location. Like, just about breaking federal law. It was the first time a wedding ceremony had been held in that spot since the building opened in 1935. Brzezinski told Vanity Fair that the couple chose the hallowed American location after attending a previous event there, saying, “It makes sense now more than ever, given what we stand for as a couple, what we do for a living, and what we’re worried...

The Victoria’s Secret brand hopes to showcase a ‘transgender’ biological man in women’s underwear, says Ed Razek, the brand’s chief marketing officer. Razek’s statement came after progressives and transgender activists rallied on social media to complain he was excluding men who live as women from the brand’s glitzy idealization of women’s sexual power. Razek sparked the dispute when he told Vogue that the company uses different fashion shows and different brands to target different groups of women...

Full TITLE: People Are “Fighting For Food” As Authorities Warn Florence “Could Produce A Disaster Comparable” To Hurricane Katrina ===================================================================== Hurricane Florence is about to make a “direct hit” on the east coast, and public officials are making one ominous declaration about this storm after another. Florence is being called “extremely dangerous”, “a monster”, “the worst in 60 years” and “the storm of a lifetime”. By the end of this week we shall see if this storm lives up to the hype, but at this point it is definitely an immensely powerful storm. Hurricanes of this magnitude very rarely come...

A Georgia police chief is defending the use of a Taser on an 87-year-old grandmother after she was seen walking around with a knife near her home, which her family says was for cutting dandelions for a salad. Martha Al-Bishara, 87, whose family says she doesn’t speak English, was gathering the flowers Friday on property belonging to a Boys and Girls Club organization in Chatsworth when a staff member called 911 on her for trespassing, the Dalton Daily Citizen-News reported, citing the police report. “She’s old so she can’t get around too well, but looks like she’s walking around looking...

ended on a West Boise neighborhood on Friday morning. Residents of an Idaho suburb woke up Friday morning to a sight that really got their goat. An invading herd of more than 100 goats rampaged through the neighborhood of West Boise, devouring flowerbeds, grass and leaves as they moved from yard to yard on Friday morning, NBC affiliate KTVB reported. Representatives of the company that owns the animals, We Rent Goats, arrived at the scene and managed to herd the goats onto a truck around 9 a.m., less than two hours after the initial calls were fielded by Animal Control...

Robert Costa, a Washington Post political reporter and NBC News political analyst, tweeted Thursday: "When I asked a prominent Trump ally about Sen. Lee/ SCOTUS, they said this article is floating around the WH, as evidence that he's a long shot." Costa included a link to an Associated Press story about Lee casting a "protest" vote in the 2016 presidential election for independent candidate Evan McMullin.

I don’t think I have the skills to easily assimilate into Donald Trump’s America. And that can mean only one thing: I should be deported. It was a difficult conclusion to reach, but after listening to White House Chief of Staff John Kelly’s recent comments on undocumented immigrants, I see no other path forward. Maybe I should self-deport. That’s part of the hope, of course, that by making America inhospitable to outsiders, some will just leave. But I’m not going to do that. You know us unassimilated legal residents. We’re notoriously lazy. No, the government is going to have to...

CALGARY, Alberta - Canadian law enforcement officials have ruled out foul play in the death of a man whose body was found Monday inside the wall of a restroom at a mall in Calgary. The Calgary Herald reported that the man was found after a worker was called to fix a toilet that wouldn’t flush in a fourth-floor women’s restroom in the Core Shopping Centre food court. The worker removed a panel of the wall and found the body. Officials with the Calgary Police Service said that the unnamed man, who was in his 20s, entered the restroom the Friday...

At 13.8 billion years ago, our entire observable universe was the size of a peach and had a temperature of over a trillion degrees. That's a pretty simple, but very bold statement to make, and it's not a statement that's made lightly or easily. Indeed, even a hundred years ago, it would've sounded downright preposterous, but here we are, saying it like it's no big deal. But as with anything in science, simple statements like this are built from mountains of multiple independent lines of evidence that all point toward the same conclusion — in this case, the Big Bang,...

SAGINAW TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A Michigan gym patron looking for a WiFi connection found one named “remote detonator,” prompting an evacuation and precautionary search of the facility by a bomb-sniffing dog. The Saginaw News reports nothing was found in the search Sunday at Planet Fitness in Saginaw Township, about 85 miles (140 kilometres) northwest of Detroit.
