McLennan County will ask the state to reimburse $600,000 in costs associated with the first trial stemming from the deadly shootout in 2015 at the Twin Peaks restaurant in Waco. The county received about $270,000 in October 2016 from the state’s County Essential Services Program, primarily for costs incurred the day of the incident and shortly thereafter, including housing people at the Jack Harwell Detention Center. WHETSTONE — Residents in Whetstone and Huachuca City were without power for about an hour and 45 minutes Monday afternoon after a crow damaged equipment at a Sulphur Springs Valley Electric Cooperative (SSVEC) substation in Whetstone. The outage started around 1:45 p.m. and power was restored by 3:33. SSVEC crews replaced the damaged equipment at the Huachuca substation, located off State Route 82 just west of 90. Florida police say a man thought he was going on a date set through an app, but instead was attacked and robbed at gunpoint. Police say a 21-year-old Taborice Lee Foster lured his target using Grindr, a dating app for gay men.
