MADISON — Chad Gigowski is a convict, pleading guilty last month to felony voter fraud for voting twice in the 2012 presidential election. He was sentenced to six months in jail, though granted work release privilege with 2 1/2 years probation to follow. A commission investigation found Christina Ayala falsely registered to vote in July 2009 at a Bridgeport address where she’s not a bona fide resident. She remained registered at that address until January 2013 and voted in nine primaries and elections. She also applied for public campaign financing from that address. A message left with Ayala’s legislative office seeking comment was not immediately returned. House Speaker Brendan Sharkey removed Ayala on Wednesday from her legislative committee assignments.

Kansas and Arizona filed a lawsuit against the U.S. federal government on Wednesday seeking court approval to require proof of U.S. citizenship when registering to vote. The lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Topeka, Kansas, by the two Republican-led states accuses an agency of President Barack Obama's Democratic administration of preventing them from enforcing state laws aimed at preventing illegal immigrants from voting.

North Carolina’s legislature, led by Consaervatives, is hoping it will be able to pass legislation shoring up legislation defending voter integrity. Among the proposals, are disallowing casting votes in incorrect districts, elimination of partisan “straight party” voting to encourage further participation in the nation’s democracy, as well as providing additional funding to support the facilitation and administration of elections.
