Jimmy Stewart suffered such extreme PTSD after being a fighter pilot in World War II that he acted out his mental distress during 'It's a Wonderful Life'. Stewart played George Bailey in the classic movie and channeled his anger and guilt into the scenes where he rages at his family. Stewart was haunted by 'a thousand black memories' from his time as an Air Force commanding officer that he took with him back to Hollywood after the war. Pilots who flew with him said that became 'Flak Happy' during World War II, a term to describe what is now known...

Not sure location of event. Published on Oct 2, 2016 The Clinton lies just keep on coming.

I was looking for data on veterans donations by Hillary and Trump and came across the site at the link. No recorded proof of any veteran groups associations. None. Zero. Zilch. If you look up Trump on the same site, it comes up with several instances. I am sure the libs will say "the Clinton Foundation gives". While that is true, the foundation is other peoples money and is not the same. After all, they said Trump paying a veterans group from his foundation to satisfy a deal he had over a dispute with a government was not the same...

There will be plenty of quibbling in the hours ahead, but Donald Trump clearly just created a new batch of problems for himself with his comments Monday morning, in which he suggested that veterans dealing with mental health problems aren't "strong" and "can't handle it." "When people come back from war and combat, they see things that maybe a lot of the folks in this room have seen many times over, and you're strong and you can handle it, but a lot of people can't handle it," Trump said to a veterans group in Northern Virginia. "And they see horror...

Gutted: Polypharmacy and the epidemic of suicide among post-9/11 veterans “Hammerhead sharks feasting on the dead make a unique sound.” So says William, a disabled Navy veteran and survivor of a horrifying incident that occurred in the Persian Gulf. At the age of twenty, William enlisted in the Navy and served for six years, working on radar and weapons systems. On 18 November 2001, he was part of a team from the destroyer USS Peterson that boarded the Samra, a suspected oil smuggler sailing under the UAE flag. The Samra capsized on the port side, and William spent the night...

The Marine Corps may replace its iconic slogan “The Few. The Proud. The Marines.” The service is putting together a new advertising campaign that could include a tagline to succeed the current one, which has been used on and off since 1976. Here’s the apparent problem with the longtime slogan: It doesn’t explain what the Marines actually do, which is fight. “(We) examined the existing tagline and felt that it did an excellent job describing who we are, but it didn’t go further and state what it is that we do,” said Lt. Col. John Caldwell, spokesman for the Marine...

Perhaps it was the way he carried himself in an unassuming and humble manner, but day after day hundreds of Air Force Academy cadets would pass this janitor in the hall oblivious to the greatness that was among them. In the mid-1970s, William Crawford might spend one day sweeping the halls and another cleaning the bathrooms, but it was a day approximately 30 years prior that would create for him a special place in the history of war. In 1943 in Italy, the only thing Private William Crawford was cleaning out was German machine gun nest and bunkers.Under heavy...

A big day for an Arizona veteran who is 101 years old. He was taken on a special ride in Prescott Valley. It was called “One Last Ride” and for Ray Weser it was a ride of a lifetime. “I’ll be 102 in December,” Weser said. Weser says he fell in love with Harley-Davidson motorcycles as a young teen when he was working on a Harley. “Harley dripping oil, smoke coming out of everywhere and I fell in love with motorcycles right there!” Weser said.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gYQDSQM0Mb4 Saint Maurice's feast day is on the 22nd of September. (Two days from right now.) So for my Catholic and Coptic viewers, I present to you, this diddy on the life and martyrdom of St Maurice. Saint Maurice (also Moritz, Morris, or Mauritius) was the leader of the legendary Roman Theban Legion n the 3rd century, and one of the favorite and most widely venerated saints of that group. He was the patron saint of several professions, locales, and kingdoms. He is revered in the Catholic Coptic and Orthodox churches. He is the patron saint of soldiers, veterans, armorers,...

Southern Arizona veterans suffering from combat-related injuries have a new resource. Soldier’s Best Friend provides service dogs for U.S. military combat veterans living with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) or combat related Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). The Peoria, Ariz.-based non-profit began in 2011 after a veterinarian noticed some of his clients’ dogs were instrumental in helping them cope with their own issues such as depression or uneasiness in public. The program partners with local rescue shelters to obtain the dogs and it is from assisting the veteran and saving the dog that the organization gets its motto “Touching 2 lives at...

I was discussing this with my husband this morning. I knew FR is the place to find the information we are seeking. My husband was at the VA the other day for an appointment. He was told to go meet with someone, following that. The young woman was to ask some questions. The first one was if he owned any guns. He told her it was none of her business. He told me about it and I told him that the VA is working with the feds to remove 2nd amendment rights from vets. He asked me to find some...

I know this probably wont have any real effect on the NFL players who decide to not stand for the National Anthem, but I would like a list of all players who don't stand. My reason is pretty simple....I don't want any of them on my Fantasy Football team. I sent an email to my league asking them to tell me if any of my players fail to stand so that I can drop them. I realize that this thing is gaining some momentum and some great players may join in. It's easy for some people to say, "punish them",...

BOOM! Navy Veteran Just DESTROYED HILLARY CLINTON at Forum: “I Would Have Been Prosecuted and Imprisoned” (VIDEO) Navy veteran Lt. John Lester knocked Hillary Clinton out of the race tonight with the first question at the MSNBC forum. The first question came from a veteran who asked Hillary Clinton about her reckless handling of classified material. John Lester: As a Naval flight officer I held the top secret sensitive compartmentalized information clearance. And that provided me access with materials and information highly sensitive to our war fighting capabilities. Had I communicated this information not following the prescribed protocols I would...

Yesterday I heard a perspective about Kaepernick’s refusal to stand for the National Anthem that compels me to help explain the Veterans’ Perspective on this issue. The view expressed on the radio was that Kaepernick’s should NOT sit on 9/11 because, while on any other day it is acceptable, to express one’s rights in such a manner on 9/11 it would be highly inappropriate. It is important to point out that this comment was made by a New York radio commentator — so perhaps that explains his perspective’s emphasis on the New York – 9/11 emotional connection. After all, the...

Congress came back from a seven-week break Tuesday and once again failed to move forward a bill that would pay for a federal Zika response. As senators traded barbs about whose fault it was, Florida health officials said they'd found seven more home-grown cases of Zika, six of them part of an outbreak in Miami Beach. Florida now has documented 56 locally transmitted cases of Zika infection, presumably passed by Aedes aegypti mosquitoes that are active nearly year round in south Florida.
