OAKLAND -- Thieves smashed a window of a KTVU news van parked in West Oakland for an assignment Thursday and stole roughly $20,000 worth of laptops and other electronic equipment, the latest in a long string of heists against reporters and photographers. --SNIP-- News photographers and reporters have been robbed and burglarized so many times since last spring that some stations are sending armed guards with media crews doing stories in Oakland.

Democrats have accused the GOP ticket of politicizing the Benghazi attacks. Now, 9/11 Truther Van Jones has figured out why Romney and Ryan are doing so. ”President Obama is a towering figure on foreign policy,” he told panelists this morning on ABC’s This Week, “you’ve got somebody with a Nobel Peace Prize and he killed Bin Laden.” He went on to urge us to “think about what it means to have to be a towering figure.” If only the President’s fellow Nobel Laureates Yasser Arafat and Le Duc Tho were around to shed light on the issue…

If you are a person of faith like I am, you like to imagine that the Creator created us with free will — in other words, even God doesn’t know who you are. You will let the universe know, you will announce to all creation who humanity is now that you have the power as a species to either preserve life or to destroy it. To either rescue the earth, or to drive an extinction wave like we’ve never seen before. Your generation will make this determination. Is the human species a species of locusts, that just came to devour...

On Monday, former White House advisor Van Jones appeared on MSNBC’s “The Ed Show” and slammed conservatives for unfairly attacking President Obama over his “you didn’t build” your business comments, saying the president’s remarks represented “the deepest form of patriotism.” Seriously. (Related: ‘This Man Hates This Country’: Limbaugh Excoriates Obama For Telling Business Owners ‘You Didn’t Build That’) But first, host Ed Schultz provided his own very special spin on Obama’s controversial statements. Predictably, Schultz bent himself into pretzels to defend the commander-in-chief. “If you only watch Fox News, you might think the president was minimizing the hard work it...

Newark Mayor Cory Booker, a Democrat who landed in hot water with his party on Sunday after criticizing President Obama’s attacks on Mitt Romney’s time at Bain Capital, may have found an unexpected ally in left-wing activist Van Jones. “An urban mayor who nearly DIED saving neighbor from a fire, has earned right 2 demand integrity & courage from other leaders,” Jones tweeted on Tuesday in a message addressed to Booker’s Twitter handle. Booker, who indeed did save a neighbor from a burning building earlier this year, has been on the receiving end of much criticism from Democrats and liberal...

During a radio interview Wednesday night, former Obama “green jobs czar” Van Jones broke ranks with current and former administration officials and ripped Attorney General Eric Holder for his handling of Operation Fast and Furious, the failed gun-walking operation that trafficked thousands of firearms across the Mexican border. “I believe that if this was happening across our other border in Canada, we’d probably take it a little more seriously,” Jones said, implying much of the carelessness over Operation Fast and Furious came because many of the victims are Hispanics from Mexico. “I worry sometimes that we just don’t value all...

Former Obama administration adviser Van Jones said the country should re-elect President Barack Obama to “stop the tea party” because former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney would “govern as a tea party president.” Jones also said that some of Obama’s supporters misunderstood Obama as a “social movement leader” after his victory in the 2008 presidential race rather than as “head of state.” (RELATED: Full coverage of the tea party movement) “We have to win politically in November to stop the tea party. We don’t want a tea party presidency, and I don’t care what you think about Mitt Romney. If we...

The Blaze was the first to report on the stunning remarks made by Obama Czar Van Jones at an Occupy Rally over one week ago in Los Angeles. At the time, he blasted Libertarians saying they hate, among other things, “brown folk.” But everyone must, at times, answer for the things they say, and Jones is now retracting, sort of, his Libertarian criticism from his speech, “All In For The 99%”. Here’s the full quote from his earlier remarks: “They say they’re Patriots but they hate everybody in America who looks like us. They say they love America but they...

Excerpted from TheBlaze – Van Jones has been making the rounds on various media outlets recently to promote his new book, “Rebuild the Dream.” But some are asking, won’t the former “green jobs czar” and “Occupy” advocate feel uncomfortable with his riches in the often-protested 1%? He said just this weekend that “[The] Occupy movement pretty much saved the entire country from destruction,” and we all know how Occupiers feel about greedy capitalists. Some are even saying Jones appears “super excited” about the capitalist system. He took the time to direct his Twitter followers to his book’s page on Amazon...

Former Obama administration green jobs czar Van Jones said Saturday the Occupy Wall Street movement essentially “saved the entire country from destruction.” Jones made the comments in Los Angeles ahead of his appearance at an “All in for the 99%” training event, saying Occupy “disrupted the narrative” as both parties “barreling toward more austerity.” “[The] Occupy movement pretty much saved the entire country from destruction,” Jones said in an interview posted online. “Both political parties were barreling toward more austerity, more cutbacks, more pain for the people and more — basically both political parties had managed to converge on this...

Van Jones is back with a message for disappointed progressives, Occupy Wall Street and other “post-‘Hope’” Democrats still looking to President Barack Obama for the change they voted for in 2008: Get over it. “I think you need two sources of power to make change, and not just one. I think you need a head of state that’s willing to be moved, and a movement to do the moving,” said Jones, the former West Wing insider-turned-disillusioned outsider and a lightning rod for conservative critics. That’s the gist of Jones’ new book, “Rebuild the Dream,” his blueprint for grassroots action to...

Disgraced former Obama “green jobs czar” Van Jones made an appearance in Hawaii last night in which he ripped on the “American fantasy” and called for socialistic approaches to wealth redistribution, while castigating Obama opponents as America-haters. In his keynote address, he stated that the American dream was under threat: Not the American dream they talk about on TV. There are two American dreams. One of them I call the ‘American fantasy.’ You know that one? Everyone is going to be rich. Everybody.

I have in the past written generally about progressivism and people laundering, here. But instead of ideas and generalities with a few specifics, this time I will be more detailed. So how do you take a revolutionary and shine them up like a bright shiny new car? How do you go from this: A jeans wearing, unpolished, rugged revolutionary, to this: Understanding how progressives use positions of power, authority, and "pure" non profits as a position to re-brand their own as palatable members of society is an extremely important thing to understand. This blog post could just as easily be...

An ironic bookend to that Richard Cohen column I linked earlier accusing the GOP of being a “cult” that can’t face unpleasant realities. Look out here for actual chanting about how allegedly un-broke we are. (Even The One is more reality-based than that.) You’ve seen this schtick before — remember Michael Moore’s disgusting speech in Wisconsin about the “400 little Mubaraks” who have stolen “our” money? — but watch it anyway to see how slippery Jones is with the actual numbers. Turns out there’s “a lot” of wealth out there that could be used to reduce the deficit; not enough...

Van Jones just sent me an email. The note, courtesy of MoveOn.org, invites me to help suggest and rate ideas on how to improve the economy. He writes: I trust my neighbors more than any Wall Street bank, hedge fund, or oil company. I think we all do. But we keep letting the banks and multinational corporations, and their high-priced lobbyists, call the shots in our economy. You know what? I think they're doing a terrible job. Now it's time for us, the American people, to come up with our own vision. So today we're launching a new effort. And...

A Los Angeles man has been arrested after he was caught stealing nearly 400 gallons of gas from a local gas station. But it’s how he did it that’s drawing so much attention. Pictures show the man had converted his van into an elaborate gas-stealing machine. KTLA-TV reports: Surveillance video shows the suspect park a large white van above an underground fuel container at a gas station and using a converted vacuum system to extricate the gasoline. The video also shows the suspect pop the hood of the truck as a decoy, police said. Police say the inside of the...
