The suspect for the shooting at a Republican baseball practice was an outspoken GOP critic who said this year that it was time to “destroy Trump” and his allies. Authorities identified James T. Hodgkinson, a home inspector from Belleville, Ill., as the lone suspect for the attack that left five people injured.... Bernie Sanders..said in a statement that Hodgkinson "apparently volunteered" for his presidential campaign. Hodgkinson wrote just three months ago about his desire to bring down Trump and the GOP. “Trump is a Traitor. Trump Has Destroyed Our Democracy. It's Time to Destroy Trump & Co.,” he said in...

With a recent poll finding that 45 percent of Democrats long for a new national leader, could Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe be the man to watch? Even McAuliffe himself is dropping hints. Is that laughter I hear from Republicans saying, "Yes, yes, bring him on"? But I also hear echoes of Democrats laughing at the prospects of running against Donald Trump in 2016 and Ronald Reagan in 1980. Here are six reasons why the GOP should not laugh at Terry McAuliffe's presidential rumblings.

Johari Abdul-Malik has worked to pull his embattled mosque "out of the fire" too many times, and on Friday he decided he had enough. Abdul-Malik, an imam and the public face of Dar al-Hijrah Islamic Center in Falls Church, Va., one of the nation's largest and oft-embattled mosques, resigned after he said the mosque's board failed to adequately address a brewing controversy over the banned practice of female genital mutilation. The mosque's lead imam, Shaker Elsayed, drew a wave of condemnation from Abdul-Malik and young Muslim activists earlier in the week after he appeared to endorse a certain form of...

President Donald Trump has a new golf buddy ... Peyton Manning. The two hit the links together at Trump National Golf Club in Virginia on Sunday -- along with Republican Sen. Bob Corker from Tennessee (same state where Peyton played his college ball). The group reportedly spent roughly 4 and a half hours playing -- no word on who emerged victorious. Manning was in town to receive the Lincoln Medal in D.C. later that night. Seems Trump has filled his QB void after his rift with his ex-BFF Tom Brady.
