  • Utah President: Trump 42%, Clinton 31%, McMullin 21% (Rasmussen)

    11/03/2016 9:47:27 AM PDT · by UKrepublican · 40 replies
Utah appears to have moved safely into Republican Donald Trump’s column with less than a week to go until Election Day. A new Heat Street/Rasmussen Reports telephone and online survey of Likely Utah Voters finds Trump with 42% support to Democrat Hillary Clinton’s 31%. Republican-turned-Independent candidate Evan McMullin has faded to 21%. Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson earns three percent (3%) of the vote. Two percent (2%) like some other candidate in the race, and another two percent (2%) are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

(KUTV) “Utah's six electoral college votes matter and Republicans are finally ready to unite.” Congressman Rob Bishop worked today to unite his party. After weeks of on again, off again support for Trump -- many of Utah’s elected officials say their nominee is not as bad as they thought “Donald Trump is no choir boy,” said Utah Senior Senator Orrin Hatch, but he knows Hillary Clinton and believes she cannot be President. “We are not voting for the pope,” reminded another at a rally at Utah’s State Capitol. “We are voting for a President.” Utah republicans who were bashing Trump...

A last-minute, virtually unknown conservative independent presidential candidate, Evan McMullin, declared his candidacy too late to be considered a credible candidate. This is unfortunate, since he is a cut above the other candidates from either party. However, he is weighed down by voter reaction to his religion: Mormonism. And by his former profession: CIA operations officer. Voters will immediately and wrongly assume that, like Mitt Romney, being a Mormon is religiously exotic, even bizarre (all that teetotaling, no music or dancing), hurting him in the eyes of the voting proletariat. His earlier employment in the CIA’s clandestine service, with still...

That said, among his fellow Mormons, there appears to be a lot of interest in the former Republican congressional staffer’s candidacy. In a Utah survey released over the weekend by the Salt Lake Tribune, McMullin trailed Republican nominee Donald Trump by just 2 percent, within the poll’s margin of error. . . . McMullin has also polled in the low double-digits in neighboring Idaho, ahead of Johnson’s 4 percent. It’s even possible that his support could be higher than surveys are indicating, since many pollsters don’t include him in their questionnaires. All of this means that everything is going to...

"I get asked on a regular basis, 'Boy, why aren't you running this year?' I ask myself that a lot too. But I did that once," Romney said. He made self-deprecating jokes about his loss to President Barack Obama in 2012, borrowing a line from Democrat Walter Mondale, who lost to Ronald Reagan in the 1984 presidential election: "All my life I wanted to run for president in the worst way, and that's what I did." He laughed about how much fun he had running in the 2012 race, encouraging the audience at an event hosted by the U.S. Chamber...

"In the long term, we're building a new conservative movement we think is badly needed in this country," McMullin said. "The party needs to be more welcoming to people that don't look like me, people of different races and religions." "I do think that there is a problem with bigotry within the voting base of the Republican Party.

Republican Vice Presidential nominee Mike Pence was in Utah Wednesday to address supporters ahead of Election Day. “I know things are good here in Utah. You have strong leadership here in Utah. Low taxes. Sensible regulation. The truth of the matter is, I promise you, the— here in Utah you know what we know in Indiana. Any progress you’ve made here has been in spite of what’s coming out of Washington D.C., not because of it,” Pence said. Pence also urged supporters of the Trump/Pence ticket to reach out to Republicans who have decided not to vote for Trump.

If you think 2016 will stop being weird come November 8, please look at your calendars: This whole election process actually lasts almost an additional two months beyond then, finally ending (probably) when Congress counts the electoral votes in early January. But just because it’s been a weird year, that doesn’t mean it has to end badly. There’s reason to hope. Consider independent write-in candidate for president Evan McMullin. He has virtually no chance of winning the election on November 8, but he does have a shot at being chosen as our next president.

Full title: "#NeverTrump GOP Candidate McMullin Admits His Goal is to Prevent Trump from Winning (Pro-Hillary)" This is what we expected all along. The #NeverTrump GOP candidate Evan McMullin is working to eliminate Donald Trump and elect Hillary Clinton. The #NeverTrump Republican candidate last week told reporters Republicans are racist. The #NeverTrump movement hopes McMullin will steal enough votes from Trump for Hillary to win Utah.

Donald Trump has a slim one-point lead over independent candidate Evan McMullin among likely voters in Utah. Democrat Hillary Clinton is in third place. The survey, commissioned by UtahPolicy.com, is the third straight survey of Utah showing McMullin has either caught or passed the GOP nominee in usually rock-solid Republican Utah.

Should the U.S. Supreme Court reconsider the famous 'Miranda' rights? One law professor at the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law, Paul Cassell, made a case for remaking what we know today as the 'Miranda' rights at a Heritage Foundation debate. Cassell noted, "Whenever we talk about the Warren Court decisions, the sense is often the world didn't exist until the Warren Court came along." For the audience, he reminded them that before the court case and decision, confessions given to law enforcement were admissible in court. He gave background information on the Miranda v. Arizona case, where...

While several recent polls from Utah have suggested Donald Trump is recapturing his lead there, an astounding new survey from CBS News and YouGov finds him with a 17-point lead over Hillary Clinton, far beyond what other polls suggest. Independent write-in candidate Evan McMullin, whose campaign is almost entirely dedicated to attacking Trump, plays a major role in the CBS/YouGov poll… but he might be hurting Clinton at least as much as Trump. In fact, he’s tied with Hillary Clinton in Utah. Donald Trump leads with 37 percent, while Hillary Clinton and Evan McMullin draw 20 percent each, followed by...
