Restrictive policies aimed at undocumented immigrants have pushed them underground, fostered negative perceptions of law enforcement and created anxiety around mundane activities such as walking their children to school and driving, according to a report released Monday that focuses on North County. Supporters of those measures said they are intended to make life difficult for the undocumented, with the goal of spurring them to return to their native countries or at least leave this region. Escondido’s police chief also disputed the study’s findings, saying that public safety in his city has not been undermined. ((snip)) “Nothing justifies breaking the law,”...

by John HillStand With Arizona He's known as "America's Toughest Sheriff". But we think he should be called "America's Jobs Sheriff". Because every time Sheriff Joe Arpaio conducts a raid, he frees up jobs for legal American workers. Based on a tip, deputies conducted a 5-month investigation of 21st Century Healthcare in Tempe. Reporting from Washington— The Obama administration will announce Friday a proposed new regulation that would allow certain undocumented immigrants to remain in America while applying for legal status -- a step aimed at keeping families intact and one that may also shore up the president's support with Latino voters. As it stands, people living in the U.S. illegally who leave the country to apply for a green card face years of separation from family members. Depending on how long they've lived in America, once they leave they are barred from returning for up to 10 years.

Alabama's governor has signed the nation's toughest new immigration law in a major crackdown on 'illegals'. The new law affects education, housing and employment. It requires public schools to document students' immigration status and even makes it a crime to knowingly give an illegal immigrant a ride. The bill also means police can arrest anyone suspected of being an illegal immigrant if they're stopped for any other reason. Alabama employers also are now required to use a federal system called E-Verify to determine if new workers are in the country legally. Gov. Robert Bentley said the law is America's toughest....

Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck announced Monday that his officers will no longer automatically tow the cars of illegal immigrant drivers stopped at sobriety checkpoints. The policy comes in response to the concerns of Latino civil rights activists, who say impound fees are unfairly costing otherwise hardworking illegal immigrant drivers hundreds of dollars. Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck said his department impounds about 1,000 cars a year from illegal immigrants at sobriety checkpoints – not because they’re drunk but because they don’t have driver’s licenses. “As we reviewed our impound policies it became obvious to me that they...

Notwithstanding Obama’s lack of constitutional eligibility for the office he occupies as a direct result of his father’s citizenship, Obama can’t even prove he is an American. In fact the only thing we can confirm about Obama is that he is a foreigner–foreign to America, foreign to the english language, and ignorant of our history. At this late date, after millions of dollars spent, people mysteriously dying, and the jailing of a decorated Army officer–all of whom questioned Obama’s legality–any so called ‘birth certificate’ produced now is nothing more than suspect, and it is more than likely another faked document…a...

One domestic violence victim refused to give her name to a hot-line worker because the Latina woman feared it would end up on some list and then be used to take away her children. Sarah Palin and the Tea Party Express have roared right through the latest round of Republican Party primaries this week, rattling the party establishment and terrifying the Democrats. For those of you who are trained in the fastidious ways of the British ‘liberalism’ and are therefore shocked and can’t think why the American Right is gaining such strength, here’s the reason: Barack Obama. Americans are waking up to the fact that they have elected a man as president who is every inch an exotic creature. Which was rather fun at first. The problem is, America is discovering that Mr Obama...
