1835 — DRAMA IN STOKE NEWINGTON There has been a surreal, dramatic episode at a school-turned-polling station in Stoke Newington, London, according to Guido Fawkes reporter Ross Kempsell. Kempsell reported on Twitter that the school had posters up in the windows apparently drawn by children, emblazoned with slogans like "We want change fund schools!" and "More books and libraries." Another message, seemingly writen by school staff, urged voters to "Vote with your heart, not by what the papers tell you!" Police were on-site, but the site manager apparently refused to take the posters down, threatening to close the entire polling...

Security stepped up at Cambridge mosques after early morning bacon hate crime Officers will carry out patrols at mosques in Mawson Road and Kirkwood Road Police are increasing patrols at two mosques in Cambridge after strips of bacon were today (June 8) left on the car windscreens to insult fasting Muslims. Four vehicles were targeted in the hate crime at about 12.30am at the Omar Faruque Mosque in Kirkwood Road, King’s Hedges as Muslims celebrate Ramadan. Officers will also patrol around the mosque in Mawson Road, off Mill Road, following the incident.

After receiving formal permission from the monarchy, U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May will try to form a new government after her Conservative Party lost its parliamentary majority in Thursday's election. "I will now form a government," May said in front of 10 Downing Street moments after she spoke with Queen Elizabeth, "a government that can provide certainty and lead Britain forward at this critical time for our country." Noting the "crucial Brexit talks that begin in just 10 days," May said the new government will work to fulfill the will of U.K. voters who decided to leave the European Union....

As the UK Independent lays out the criticism, “What Mr Khan actually said was that there is no reason to be alarmed about the increased police presence on the streets after the attack.” However, some alternative facts have appeared that render this criticism meaningless. In an interview on ITV’s show Good Morning, Britain, former CNN host Piers Morgan, now an outspoken conservative working at the UK Daily Mail, pressed the mayor on jihadis returning to the UK from training camps in the Middle East. Just last year, a documentary aired on the BBC called “The Jihadist Next Door,” which followed around a number of Muslim extremists in the UK who wanted to implement Sharia Law there, and had sympathies towards ISIS. By the time the documentary aired, one of the jihadists followed (named Abu Rumaysah) had already left for Syria and appeared on ISIS propaganda as an executioner. Last night’s attack on London Bridge and at Borough Market was actually over in under ten minutes, though the confusion and chaos in the aftermath stretched through the night as officials sorted out the details. Just a few weeks ago, it seemed almost certain that Prime Minister, Theresa May would be returned to Parliament with an increased majority and that the Labour Party would be on the Brink of collapse.
