Former Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens penned an op ed for the New York Times in which he argued that the Constitutional Amendment protecting a citizen’s right to bear firearms should be repealed. “When we examine the circumstances under which the 2nd Amendment was adopted it seems clear to me that it was unnecessary on the day it was adopted,” Stevens wrote. “At the time, the United States was less than a decade removed from a desperate battle for independence from a government that oppressed those living in what were then British colonies. One of the tactics the British...

While other agents went after the three remaining crossers, one agent stuck with the Honduran and tried to secure him. But the 25-year-old migrant resisted, striking the agent’s head against a rock. STATESVILLE, N.C.—He's now an Iredell County agriculture worker. But 10 years ago this month, he was embarking on a journey to leave Mexico and cross the United States border in hopes of giving his family a better life. The journey nearly killed him. Even now, as he works on an Iredell County farm, he has never escaped the daily fear of being returned to a country where power-hungry drug cartels get their way and there is little opportunity for him. The fear of deportation is one many migrant workers share, but they're not alone. Farmers nationwide – including in Iredell...

In a poll conducted for NBC and the Wall Street Journal, 58% of respondents agreed that "gun ownership does more to increase safety by allowing law-abiding citizens to protect themselves." On the other side, 38% agreed that "gun ownership reduces safety by giving too many people access to firearms." These results are a significant reversal of responses from 19 years ago when 52% felt that increased gun ownership reduced safety. Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel called this shift in favor of gun ownership "dismaying. Considering the carnage taking place on our city streets on a daily basis, I think it's clear...

In his address at a conference Monday, the founding member of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s conservative Fidesz party stated that “the new technique and ideology of government is aimed at creating (societies) without an identity”. Referring to proponents of global governance as “potential colonists”, Mr. Kövér said: “They want to strip people of their religious, national, family, and even sexual identities so that they are no longer able to recognise, express or enforce their own interests.” Hungary has been at the forefront of the battle against the erosion of the nation-state and conservative values with Prime Minister Orbán, vowing last...

James Comey’s book is getting the Harry Potter treatment. “A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies and Leadership,” the upcoming memoir from former FBI director James Comey, is set for publication on April 18 — and with anticipation rivaling that of the cult children’s favorite, the publisher is taking extreme precautions to prevent potentially explosive revelations detailing Comey’s interactions with President Donald Trump from leaking. White House lawyer Ty Cobb wrote in an email that the government was expecting to get a copy for review, but that he has not been involved. Press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders did not respond to a...

Sigh. The lunacy continues. The White House released some proposals for school safety over the weekend. But it isn't good enough for the little ones who are being handled by the professional leftists. The gun grabbing must continue, insists CNN's favorite Stoneman Douglas students. One of these kids even said Trump was "afraid" of the NRA. AND I saw somewhere else that the bald headed girl Emma got the key to the city of Miami Beach because she led some homosexual group at the high school. What that has to do with gun control I don't know, but the media...

Much of the scholarly discussion about the circumstances of JesusÂ’ death relates to the question of who was responsible for his arrest and crucifixion.Who was responsible? The Jews or the Romans?Historically, the primary responsibility has been placed on the Jewish leadership and the Jews in Jerusalem. Throughout the centuries, this has sometimes had tragic consequences, resulting in anti-Semitism and violence against Jews.More recent trends in scholarship have shifted the blame to the Romans. The tendency to blame the Jews, it is said, arose in the decades after the crucifixion with the churchÂ’s growing conflict with the synagogue and its desire to...

“I feel like I’m having to choose between you and God.” That’s what Greta Lindecrantz, a 67-year-old Mennonite, told an Arapahoe County, Colo., district judge on Wednesday after she ordered her to testify for the prosecution in a death-penalty case — or remain in jail for contempt of court. Lindecrantz had been behind bars since Monday. In a nationally televised negotiation with Republican and Democratic leaders at the White House Wednesday, President Trump appeared to back many liberal gun control proposals much to the delight of the liberal media. During their evening broadcasts ABC, CBS, and NBC touted how the President “stood up to the National Rifle Association” and pushed back against Republicans. The report on NBC Nightly News was arguably the most vicious against gun rights advocates. “Under pressure after Parkland, President Trump taking on his own party and the National Rifle Association today,” hyped White House correspondent Kristen Welker. “Mr. Trump, at a freewheeling...

As the Parkland, Fla., school shooting revealed yet again, when it comes to firearms, the differences between Americans has become too monumental to overcome. On one end of the political spectrum are left-wing politicians and pundits calling for the elimination of the Second Amendment and severe restrictions on virtually every kind of gun. On the other end are Americans who believe the best way to stop mass shootings is to have even more weapons available to the public, and for everyday citizens, including teachers, to be better armed so that they are capable of defending themselves and others from murderers...
