Culture critics have long hammered the Grammy Awards as tragically unhip. So CBS knew there was one way to get hip quickly: Sunday night’s awards ceremonies will be their first show with a male trophy presenters and….a trans woman presenter. Actor Derek Marrocco and transgender model Martina Robledo will hand out awards alongside the typical blonde – model/actress Hollin Haley. AP’s Lynn Elber hailed the nod as breaking with hoary male-chauvinist tradition. “Changing up the Grammy trophy presenters isn’t window-dressing.” Robledo, who’s from San Diego, said she was honored to join Caitlyn Jenner, Laverne Cox and other transgender people in...

The trailer for a controversial new Netflix programme has sparked a fierce race row - losing the entertainment company numerous customers in the process. More than 250,000 'dislikes' were registered for the Dear White People preview on Friday, just 24 hours after it was officially uploaded to YouTube. But the true scale of the discontent could be much higher after claims the online broadcaster deleted both a million views and 100,000 accompanying negative comments.

. That means a commitment to diversity, inclusion, community, open-mindedness and some serious hard work. But it doesn't mean that I or my team will always agree with the opinion of everyone who works there, including its executives. Great leaders inspire and galvanize the masses during turbulent times, they don't cause people to divide and disband. My responsibility here is not only to the global audience we serve, but also to the thousands of workers who pour blood, sweat, and tears into making Under Armour strong. A diverse group of hardworking men and women who possess integrity, respect and compassion...

Yesterday afternoon Disney announced its quarterly earnings and something I've been predicting for several years now was at the forefront of most of those stories -- ESPN's income declined 11% compared to last year. The drag on earnings and revenue from ESPN led to a quarterly miss of estimates for ESPN's parent company, Disney. Fortunately for Disney the company has made smart strategic moves in other arenas -- buying Pixar, Star Wars, and Marvel among others -- that have helped to defray the coming collapse of ESPN. So while Disney may not suffer terrible consequences thanks to the success of...

Survivor: Game Changers — Mamanuca Islands is the 34th season of Survivor (for those unfamiliar with the show, there are two seasons each year). It begins Wednesday, March 8, 2017 on CBS at 8/7c with a special two hour episode. References: Official Survivor site at CBSWikipedia article There will be twenty returning players divided into two tribes of ten players each. The "Game Changers" theme as with some past themes, is of course utterly contrived. Apparently the original plan called for three teams consisting of (1) winners, (2) those who made the jury, and (3) those who were booted prior...

Does anyone remember watching SNL when Al Franken was there? He was part of a duo called "Franken and Davis". The reason I bring it up, is because it bugs me that no one ever talks about this. When the announcer would introduce "Franken and Davis", he always added, "Brought to you by the American Communist Party. Sooner or later we will all be communist." That was the intro every time they appeared on SNL. The reaction of the crowd was always very hushed. It was almost like there was disbelief. I want someone in media to ask Al Franken...

Rosie O’Donnell says she’s more than willing to play White House chief strategist and former Breitbart News executive chairman Steve Bannon on Saturday Night Live. O’Donnell, who has had a decade-long public feud with President Donald Trump, was asked by a Twitter user if she would “take one for the team” and spoof Bannon following Melissa McCarthy’s turn on SNL as White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer. “I am here to serve,” O’Donnell responded. “Alec has trump – melissa has spice – i would need a few days to prepare – so if called – i will be ready.” @calvininsf...

Sports Illustrated is releasing its Swimsuit issue next Monday, and sources tell us that it’s likely they will have three covers starring tennis champ Serena Williams, 63-year-old model Christie Brinkley, and possibly Kate Upton. Last year, the magazine also used three covers, which featured extra curvy model Ashley Graham, Hailey Clauson and mixed martial arts champ Ronda Rousey in body paint. Sources tell us that an appearance by Upton — whose Rookie of the Year pictures in the mag in 2011 helped make her a star — is still up in the air because of her diva demands. “There was...

After much anticipation and speculation, pop mega-star Lady Gaga’s Super Bowl LI halftime show performance was largely devoid of partisan politics — much to the chagrin of myriad liberal media and entertainment reporters. Journalists from some of the country’s biggest news outlets raked the “Bad Romance” singer over the coals for failing to bash President Donald Trump’s immigration and national security policies, specifically his controversial refugee moratorium. Below is a roundup of some of the most disappointed reactions from a liberal media upset that Lady Gaga delivered a non-political Super Bowl performance clearly intended to entertain all Americans. 1.
