ESPN doesn’t deserve to retain the services of Jemele Hill, its opinionated “SportsCenter” anchor. Proof? On Monday, the Disney-owned sports-broadcasting colossus suspended Hill for issuing an insightful tweet about the NFL, a league that ESPN supposedly covers. At issue was Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, a guy who is sounding a lot like the president of the United States these days. “If there’s anything that is disrespectful to the flag, then we will not play,” said Jones on Sunday after his team sustained a difficult loss to the Green Bay Packers. “Understand? We will not … if we are disrespecting the...

Harvey Weinstein has today been accused of threatening to sabotage the careers of A-list stars, including Sienna Miller, if they didn't wear his wife Georgina Chapman's designs on the red carpet. The British-born mother-of-two, 41, set up Marchesa in 2004 and even before the scandal over rape and sexual harassment allegations broke, she faced the accusations that the label was only successful thanks to her husband's Hollywood connections.

On Monday, ESPN suspended SportsCenter anchor Jemele Hill for two weeks after a series of tweets critical of Dallas Cowboys’ owner Jerry Jones’ stance on standing for the national anthem—as well as calling for a boycott of Cowboys advertisers. The network said Hill had violated the company’s social media policy. As you might remember, ESPN seemingly went to bat for Hill last month, after she slammed President Trump on Twitter, calling him a “bigot” and “white supremacist.” That said, there were reports that the network had, at the time, attempted to replace Hill on that evening’s SportsCenter broadcast, but received...

There was a pile of scripts sitting on his desk. “I want to put you in one of my movies,” he said and offered to let me choose which one I liked best. Mike Ditka may want to stick to football after his most recent interview. The legendary Bears coach, who was a guest of NBC’s Jim Gray during the Bears-Vikings game on “Monday Night Football,” was asked little about Chicago rookie quarterback Mitch Trubisky but instead weighed in on anthem protests going in the NFL. Ditka isn’t a fan and doesn’t see a reason for them either. "There has been no oppression in the last 100 years that I know of,” Ditka said. “Now maybe I’m not watching it as carefully as other people. I think the opportunity is there for everybody...

Despite underperforming, “Blade Runner 2049” could still have the biggest box office opening this month After an “It”-fueled surge in September, the box office is slowing down again in the early stages of October. After “Kingsman: The Golden Circle” closed out last month by taking the top spot with just $17 million, “Blade Runner 2049” surprisingly underperformed with $32.7 million, well below hopes of a $45-50 million start. But despite that letdown, it could still have the highest opening weekend of this month, as the remaining releases on the October slate aren’t expected to do any better. This weekend, the...

Fashion designer Donna Karan has come to her pal Harvey Weinstein‘s defense in a bold way – saying sexually harassed women may be “asking for it” by dressing seductively, according to the Daily Mail. “You look at everything all over the world today and how women are dressing and what they are asking by just presenting themselves the way they do. What are they asking for? Trouble,” she told the British tabloid in a red-carpet interview at the CinéFashion Film Awards in LA. “To see it here in our own country is very difficult, but I also think how do...
