Washington Post columnist Megan McArdle blasted the legacy media for its collective dismissal of the Hunter Biden laptop story during the 2020 presidential election. In a piece published on Saturday, McArdle began by noting what a friend coined was a "growing 'epistemic closure' on the right" that filters out what is reported in the distrusted liberal media. "This frets the mainstream media. It is our job to provide information, so naturally we worry when so many customers aren’t buying… In fact, we in the mainstream have been so busy denouncing ‘fake news’ that we failed to notice we’re developing a...
  • NBC Poll: Just 12 percent of Dems see Clinton as 'honest and trustworthy'

Hillary Clinton is maintaining a sizable lead over Donald Trump, even though most Democrats don't see her as a trustworthy candidate. According to a new NBC News|SurveyMonkey Weekly Election Tracking poll, the Democratic presidential nominee leads Trump 50-41 50 among registered voters. That's virtually changed from last week when she had a 10-point lead. But a majority of voters still have negative feelings about Clinton - 59 percent of voters view her negatively, compared to 64 percent who view the GOP nominee in a bad light. When broken down by party, just 12 percent of Democrats say Clinton is honest...

Ummmm....ahhhhh.....weeeeelll...ummmmm.... No sane person believes that Hillary Clinton is trustworthy. They just don’t. Polls showing the 64% of the people think she’s untrustworthy are really only showing that the other 36% are lying. So, if you’re a downballot Dem, how should you answer the question “do you think Hillary is honest and trustworthy?” Special: It's No Longer A Secret. You Can Buy Jewelry Starting Here’s a tip, don’t answer it like the Democrat Governor of New Hampshire, Maggie Hassan. Hassan is currently running for Senate, and her views on Hillary’s “trustworthiness” are, shall we say, complicated….

Indeed, as in previous states, Sanders won white voters focused on honesty, as well as those most concerned with a candidate who “cares about people like me,” by vast margins – 95-5 and 75-25 percent, respectively. Blacks overwhelmingly saw Clinton as the trustworthy candidate, Sanders not.

Donald Trump has said just recently that he’s bigger than Ronald Reagan. Talk about audacity. Well Ted Cruz was asked about it this morning and here is fantastic video of him pointing out that Ronald Reagan actually spent decades espousing conservative principles and didn’t just adopt conservative language on the campaign trail. Couldn’t have said it better myself. No matter how big Trump’s ego is, there is no comparison between Trump and Reagan. Just not even close.

Ted Cruz is strongly contesting Donald J. Trump nationally, according to a new Quinnipiac University poll that shows the Texas senator essentially deadlocked with real estate mogul and front-runner in the race for the Republican presidential nomination. According to the survey of registered Republican voters, 28 percent support Mr. Trump, while 24 percent back Mr. Cruz. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus four percentage points. Trailing Mr. Trump and Mr. Cruz are Senator Marco Rubio and Ben Carson at 12 percent and 10 percent. The rest of the pack is languishing in the single digits....

Trump said Cruz “has had a double passport.” Trump didn’t provide and we didn’t find evidence that Cruz, who relinquished his dual citizenship in 2014, ever carried passports for the U.S. and Canada–nor, Cruz’s camp advises, did he ever apply for a Canada passport. We rate the claim False. There you go. Trump lies again to disparage Cruz.

Just like the other candidates, Ted Cruz is also out with a new TV ad today and in it he sits in front of the camera and speaks directly to the people:This is my favorite style TV ad as I think it is one of the most effective. And Ted Cruz is a natural at it. And his message is terrific, arguing that while the nation is definitely off track, standing by America’s FOUNDING principles will get us back on track as a country. What a way to play the patriotic card without making it conspicuous.

Staff photo/Derek Sullivan A packed Bayless Park Hall listened to Republican Presidential candidate Ted Cruz discuss his candidancy on Friday night. Ted Cruz rallied his troops Friday night in Council Bluffs. The Texas senator and Republican candidate for president stopped in downtown Council Bluffs to, among other things, compare himself to former president Ronald Reagan, attack current President Barack Obama, ignore current GOP Iowa Caucus poll leaders Ben Carson and Donald Trump, share career highlights and, most of all, raise money for his campaign by mentioning his website. The event was billed as a town hall, and Cruz did...

Polls show Americans don't think Hillary is trustworthy. Then her campaign manager denies there are such polls. Then her pollster denies that the campaign manager didn't tell the truth about it. Not exactly a formula to build trust. On today's Morning Joe, Joe Scarborough mocked Robby Mook for having, as our Jeff Meyer reported, denied the undeniable, claiming on yesterday's Face the Nation that "no poll" shows Americans don't trust Hillary. Said Scarborough sarcastically: "well, actually, yeah, they do. You have to respect him for saying they don't." When Scarborough confronted Hillary pollster Joel Benenson with the fact that Mook...

OBAMA: And we joke about Romnesia, but all of this speaks to something that's really important and that is the issue of trust. There's no more serious issue on a presidential campaign than trust. Trust matters.... (snip) You could take a videotape of things I said 10 years ago, 12 years ago and you'd say, 'Man this is the same guy. Has the same values. Cares about the same people. Doesn't forget where he came from. Knows who he's fighting for.' And you know what? I haven't finished all the work that we set out to do back in 2008....

PLEASANT HILL -- A gay teenager denied his Eagle Scout award because of his sexuality turned in an online petition with more than 400,000 signatures Wednesday urging the National Boy Scouts of America to change its policies against allowing gay members. Ryan Andresen of Moraga marched into the front office of the Mt. Diablo Silverado Council on Ellinwood Way along with his parents and a former member of the same Boy Scout troop who came out as gay two weeks ago. Assemblymember Nancy Skinner, D-Berkeley, also attended and presented Andresen with a resolution honoring his achievements with the Boy Scouts....

Newt Gingrich has ramped up his attacks on Mitt Romney as a heartless leveraged buyout executive for his years at Bain Capital, asking reporters in Manchester on Monday, “Is capitalism really about the ability of a handful of rich people to manipulate the lives of thousands of other people and walk off with the money? Or is that, somehow, a little bit of a flawed system?” But Mr. Gingrich was himself on an advisory board for a major investment firm that had a similar business model, Forstmann Little, a pioneering private equity firm co-founded in 1978 by Theodore J. Forstmann...

And now, Mr. Obama's Orwellian health care vision is going down in a ball of flames, with Americans of every ideological stripe in revolt over some part of what's being proposed, conceded and debated. The president's agenda is in deep trouble, and now it appears not even the silver-tongued, savvy political Merlin himself can salvage it. It wasn't supposed to be this hard for the Democrats: With control of the White House and huge majorities in the Congress, they were supposed to blow past whatever token resistance to their plans the Republicans and others might raise and easily implement their...

Though she barely escaped prosecution just a few years ago for making false statements to federal investigators, New Yorkers now believe that Sen. Hillary Clinton is a truthful person. Nearly two-thirds of Empire Staters - 64 percent - told a Quinnipiac University survey last week that the former first lady was "honest and trustworthy." Thirty percent disagreed. Even among Republicans, 38 percent gave Hillary high marks for honesty. Among Democrats, the figure was a sky-high 85 percent. Quinnipaic's polling director Maurice Carroll said Hillary's new honesty numbers were a big improvement from the old days. "When Clinton took office four...
