Hillary Clinton is maintaining a sizable lead over Donald Trump, even though most Democrats don't see her as a trustworthy candidate. According to a new NBC News|SurveyMonkey Weekly Election Tracking poll, the Democratic presidential nominee leads Trump 50-41 50 among registered voters. That's virtually changed from last week when she had a 10-point lead. But a majority of voters still have negative feelings about Clinton - 59 percent of voters view her negatively, compared to 64 percent who view the GOP nominee in a bad light. Indeed, as in previous states, Sanders won white voters focused on honesty, as well as those most concerned with a candidate who “cares about people like me,” by vast margins – 95-5 and 75-25 percent, respectively. Blacks overwhelmingly saw Clinton as the trustworthy candidate, Sanders not.

Donald Trump has said just recently that he’s bigger than Ronald Reagan. Talk about audacity. Well Ted Cruz was asked about it this morning and here is fantastic video of him pointing out that Ronald Reagan actually spent decades espousing conservative principles and didn’t just adopt conservative language on the campaign trail. Couldn’t have said it better myself. No matter how big Trump’s ego is, there is no comparison between Trump and Reagan. Just not even close.

Ted Cruz is strongly contesting Donald J. Trump nationally, according to a new Quinnipiac University poll that shows the Texas senator essentially deadlocked with real estate mogul and front-runner in the race for the Republican presidential nomination. According to the survey of registered Republican voters, 28 percent support Mr. Trump, while 24 percent back Mr. Cruz. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus four percentage points. Trailing Mr. Trump and Mr. Cruz are Senator Marco Rubio and Ben Carson at 12 percent and 10 percent. The rest of the pack is languishing in the single digits....

Trump said Cruz “has had a double passport.” Trump didn’t provide and we didn’t find evidence that Cruz, who relinquished his dual citizenship in 2014, ever carried passports for the U.S. and Canada–nor, Cruz’s camp advises, did he ever apply for a Canada passport. Just like the other candidates, Ted Cruz is also out with a new TV ad today and in it he sits in front of the camera and speaks directly to the people:This is my favorite style TV ad as I think it is one of the most effective. And Ted Cruz is a natural at it. And his message is terrific, arguing that while the nation is definitely off track, standing by America’s FOUNDING principles will get us back on track as a country. What a way to play the patriotic card without making it conspicuous.
