KSL News) – A tanker truck carrying some sort of explosive material overturned and exploded this afternoon on Highway 6, up Spanish Fork Canyon. It caught fire and exploded. Highway 6 is shut down in both directions and is expected to remain so for up to eight hours. The accident was reported about 1:30. It's about 10 miles up Spanish Fork Canyon, just east of the Thistle Fork Junction. Tanker Truck Fire Shuts Down Bruckner Expressway October 04, 2005 A tanker truck has burst into flames near the Bruckner Expressway in the Bronx, shutting down traffic on the highway in both directions. The Fire Department say the explosion happened at 1344 Bruckner Boulevard near the Hunts Point drawbridge shortly after 2 p.m. It is still unclear exactly what caused the tanker to catch fire. Witnesses tell CBS 11 News they heard a huge explosion and saw a mushroom-shaped cloud in the sky up to 100 feet above the accident. *** According to reports, a gasoline tanker overturned, which ignited the gasoline and subsequent smaller grass fires, and forced the shut down of both east and westbound traffic on the turnpike.
