Chandrayaan-3, the latest iteration of India’s ambitious mission to the moon, has successfully landed on the lunar surface — making history after its predecessor failed in 2019. The landing, which took place at the targeted time of 5:34am PT (6:04pm IST) on Wednesday over a month after the spacecraft’s launch, has made India the fourth nation globally to make a soft landing on the moon, after the former Soviet Union, the U.S. and China, and the first country to land on the lunar south pole, which remains an unexplored area that is anticipated to aid in the understanding of the...

BENGALURU, Aug 23 (Reuters) - An Indian spacecraft landed on the moon on Wednesday, the space agency said, in a mission seen as crucial to lunar exploration and India's standing as a space power, just days after a similar Russian lander crashed. For India, the successful landing marks its emergence as a space power as the government looks to spur investment in private space launches and related satellite-based businesses.

A spokesperson for Lelands, which bills itself as “the first sports memorabilia and card auction house in the world,” confirmed over the weekend that the authenticated ball Brady threw to Mike Evans in the fourth quarter of the Jan. 23 NFC title game had sold for $518,628. The month-long winter online auction that included the ball formally closed Saturday night. Less than 24 hours later, Brady announced he was returning for a 23rd season. Though the identities of the buyer and seller remain anonymous, the dilemma has stoked natural curiosity over whether the auction house will let the buyer off...

  • How an 8-year-old's first touchdown resulted in a $500 fine, coach suspension

Elijah Burrell did what he was taught to do if he intercepted the football -- score a touchdown. But the 8-year-old's pick-six play wasn't much to celebrate after the team was fined $500 for violating the Gwinnett Football League's mercy rule... the Lawrenceville Black Knights were winning against their opponents, 32-0, in the fourth quarter. Burrell then intercepted a pass and went through with the touchdown, failing to comply with the league's mercy rule. That six-point score caused the Georgia-based team to surpass the 33-point rule, which earned the coach a week-long suspension and the team a $500 fine.

Monroe, June 15, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The famous “Touchdown Jesus” statue which has amazed many travelers taking the Interstate 75 road is no more in its place. The statue that was placed before the evangelical Solid Rock Church in Monroe, north of Cincinnati, was struck by lightning on late Monday night that left behind only the steel frame. Being made of fiberglass, foam and plastic all of which are highly combustible, it did not take much time for the lightning to cause havoc on the statue. The fire was not restricted to the huge statue only. It affected an amphitheater that...

President Bush has resoundingly won the “Pre-Debate Quarter” of the Electoral Gridiron Extravaganza say inside sources from "the American Political League." Late word coming in from all sideline reporters suggests that the President simply overpowered John Kerry beyond Kerry's ability to defend. With this awesome show of momentum in the pre-debate period, the president is up by a significant margin after the second quarter of play. Scoring at will during the 1st “Convention Quarter,” Bush also racked up devastating yardage in the 2nd “Debate Build-Up Quarter.” With only 2 quarters of play remaining, “The Debates Quarter” and the “Election Build-Up”...
