PHOENIX - A judge has thrown out Republican Kari Lake’s challenge of her defeat in the Arizona governor’s race to Democrat Katie Hobbs, rejecting her claim that problems with ballot printers at some polling places on Election Day were the result of intentional misconduct. In a decision Saturday, Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Peter Thompson, who was appointed by then-Republican Gov. Jan Brewer, found that the court did not find clear and convincing evidence of the widespread misconduct that Lake had alleged had affected the result of the 2022 general election. "My Election Case provided the world with evidence that proves our elections are run outside of the law. This Judge did not rule in our favor. However, for the sake of restoring faith and honesty in our elections, I will appeal his ruling," Lake tweeted SaturdayOn Saturday, Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake lost her post-midterm election lawsuit against Democrat Governor-elect Katie Hobbs, which alleged Arizona voters were disenfranchised after actions by Hobbs and Maricopa County election officials. School officials in the US state of Utah have apologised after an employee confiscated and discarded the lunches of about 30 children whose parents were said to be in arrears on meal payments. Outraged parents in Salt Lake City said the students at Uintah Elementary primary school had been humiliated. The school system has launched an inquiry into the Tuesday incident, blamed on a sole "nutrition manager". The children whose meals were put in the rubbish were given fruit and milk. "This was a mistake. This was handled wrong,'' Jason Olsen, a spokesman for the Salt Lake City school system...

Republican anger continues to mount over MoveOn's disgraceful ad in Monday's New York Times that referred to "General Betray Us."Thursday night, Sen. John McCain (R-Arizona) voiced one of the sharpes rebukes of the far-left organization since the ad was first published.Speaking in front of a group in Hudson, New Hampshire, while holding a blown-up copy of the ad, McCain said (video available here, h/t Gateway Pundit): It's disgraceful, it's got to be retracted and condemned by the Democrats, and MoveOn.org ought to be thrown out of this country." How delicious. Do yourself a favor and watch the whole thing.

BAGHDAD - The newly-appointed judge in Saddam Hussein’s genocide trial threw Iraq’s former leader out of court on Monday, imposing his authority on a legal process marred by political controversy. A Kurdish villager, meanwhile, testified that women prisoners were often raped during the brutal 1987-1988 Anfal attacks against the Kurds that prosecutors say left 182,000 people dead. Saddam was thrown out when he waved a sheet of yellow legal paper from the dock, declaring: “I have a request here that I don’t want to be in this cage any more”. But Judge Mohammed Al Oreibi Al Khalifah fired back: “I...

Latin America: The past week's high political turmoil in Ecuador is about more than oil or bananas. It's about a terrifying descent into instability that could hit every country in the hemisphere. The turmoil in the tiny South American country shows no sign of ending. Another president was thrown out — the third in a decade. His successor is widely regarded as an ignorant weakling. And no one thinks he's going to last. After all, Ecuador has had seven presidents since 1995. Maybe that's why Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice turned her attention from a milestone NATO treaty signing in...
