Thanksgiving is one of our most direct, maybe least commercialized holidays, that focuses on reflection and family and good food. Who we share it with, where, and the day’s menu has changed over the years, but maybe the more that it changes, the more it’s the same.

Another Thanksgiving is upon us. But it’s amazing how ungrateful people can be these days. One comedian quipped, “My grandfather tried to warn everyone that the Titanic was going to sink. Besides not believing him, they also expelled him from the movie theater!”

Just before his passing, Rush Limbaugh delivers one of the most accurate and compelling accounts of the true Thanksgiving story that you've ever heard... Be grateful.

Here’s the version you were probably taught: The Pilgrims arrived here after an arduous trip across the Atlantic Ocean. They didn’t know why they were, had no idea what to do. They had nothing. The Indians took pity on them. The Indians saw them, and the Indians saved them. The Indians taught ’em how to do things they didn’t know how to do, like grow food, catch beavers, stuff like that. The Indians saved them, and the Pilgrims thanked them by growing a whole bunch of food and having this big feast. So, the story of Thanksgiving that’s taught is...

Governor Bradford of Massachusetts made this first Thanksgiving Proclamation three years after the Pilgrims settled at Plymouth: "Inasmuch as the great Father has given us this year an abundant harvest of Indian corn, wheat, peas, beans, squashes, and garden vegetables, and has made the forests to abound with game and the sea with fish and clams, and inasmuch as He has protected us from the ravages of the savages, has spared us from pestilence and disease, has granted us freedom to worship God according to the dictates of our own conscience. In everything give thanks; for this is the will...

One of the most impossible acts for an unregenerate individual to do is to thank Almighty God in RIGHTEOUSNESS and since the majority of humanity rejects Almighty God's RIGHTEOUSNESS, how many billions of individuals are truly thankful to their ETERNAL RIGHTEOUS CREATOR for His mercy and goodness to each one of us (Psalm 14, Rom.1:18-32; 10:2-4; 1 John 4:10)? Are you truly thankful in the RIGHTEOUSNESS of Almighty God? It's easy to "praise" Almighty God and thank Him when everything seems to be going "our" way (Prov.14:.12). Apart from a saving relationship to Almighty God in RIGHTEOUSNESS (John 3:16-17; 1...

Beloved, Greetings in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ! Who is the TRUE source for ALL Heavenly blessings here on earth and in Heaven above (Eph. 1:3)! As we celebrate this time of Thanksgiving we are very mindful of many things. We are thankful for our loved ones, a measure of health and a sound mind. We are thankful for the earthly blessings and liberties that we possess as Americans. We are thankful for those who have shed their blood on our nation's behalf which have preserved our freedoms and liberties. We are thankful for the vision and labor...

We all know the Thanksgiving story about the Pilgrims and their first bountiful harvest of 1621. We are taught about the hardships of the first winter season with over half of the early settlers dying in the first year. The Pilgrims were but 40 of the 102 people aboard the Mayflower that landed in Plymouth on the eastern coast of today’s state of Massachusetts. They met Squanto, an English-speaking Indian (for that story see the Nov. 24, 2014 Biblical Viewpoint post) who taught them to how to live off the land and negotiate a treaty with the neighboring Wampanoag tribe...

On this day of Thanksgiving, the Boston Globe has rendered itself the newspaper equivalent of the crotchety liberal uncle at the table, perhaps with one too many celebratory libations under the belt, spewing his political bile. As its cartoon du jour, the Globe chose the one you see here: a vengeful Trump on his way to the tree stump, axe at the ready, to dispatch the turkey. And in turn, the turkey is regretting having rejected Biden because of his age. Get the rest of the story here.

1 Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. 2 Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing! 3 Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. 4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. 5 For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.~ Psalm 100 (KJV) ~ The FReeper Canteen Presents...

Each year at this time, schoolchildren all over America are taught the official Thanksgiving story, and newspapers, radio, TV, and magazines devote vast amounts of time and space to it. It is all very colorful and fascinating. It is also very deceiving. This official story is nothing like what really happened. It is a fairy tale, a whitewashed and sanitized collection of half-truths which divert attention away from Thanksgiving's real meaning. The official story has the Pilgrims boarding the Mayflower, coming to America, and establishing the Plymouth colony in the winter of 1620–21. This first winter is hard, and half...

President Biden and his family have returned to their favorite Thanksgiving holiday haunt at the Nantucket home of billionaire David Rubenstein. Air Force One touched down at Nantucket Memorial Airport on Tuesday night, and the first family and their Secret Service detail immediately left for the 13,000-square-foot home at Rubenstein's 14-acre compound on Rabbit Run Road, the Nantucket Current reported. The Biden family will also celebrate the president's 81st birthday, which was Monday, with a traditional coconut cake, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters on Monday. Biden has a planned call with U.S. military service members on Thanksgiving...

The White House took a victory lap this week for purportedly “lowering costs” to American families preparing to celebrate Thanksgiving this year, while ignoring rising prices that have affected consumers since President Biden’s election in 2020. “This Thanksgiving, we have a lot to be thankful for. While inflation caused by the pandemic and Russia’s war continues to be a challenge, we have seen important progress,” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said during a Monday press briefing at which she displayed a hypothetical Thanksgiving menu to make her point. Jean-Pierre highlighted that gas prices have decreased $1.70 from their peak...

Thousands of flights across the U.S. have been delayed and canceled ahead of Thanksgiving, with a record number of travelers struggling to make it home for the holiday as Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg brags about his accomplishments. With the American Automobile Association (AAA) predicting that 55.4 million Americans are traveling for Thanksgiving, seamless experiences on the road, railways, and in the air should be of utmost priority to Buttigieg. However, travel chaos is ensuing across the country.

My dear friends, one can only be truly thankful to Almighty God in RIGHTEOUSNESS; anything outside of that is absolute demonic folly. In light of our nation's unthankfulness to Almighty God, godlessness, abounding moral relativistic thinking, and secularism; there is still a remnant (Isa. 1:4-9) throughout this nation today that still chooses to follow Almighty God and know His Son as their personal Savior as the Holy Scriptures so clearly teaches (John 1:12). This remnant is truly thankful daily for all that Almighty God has provided for them (in time and in ETERNITY) and they are found throughout all the...

(NEXSTAR) — As Americans prepare to gather for the holidays, many say they fear becoming sick in the coming months. Based on the latest data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, those concerns may be genuine. While the CDC doesn’t track COVID-19 testing as closely as it did during the pandemic, it does still track other COVID-related data. That includes hospital admissions for COVID, jumped by almost 9% in the most recent week of data, through Nov. 11. The percentage of people visiting the emergency room and testing positive for COVID is up by 7%, and the number...

The national average of gas prices could drop to the lowest level around Thanksgiving in years, according to new estimates. On Monday, AAA reported the average national price of gas was about $3.31 per gallon — nearly a 10 percent decrease from last year’s average of $3.67 per gallon during the same period. The national average for gas prices has fallen or remained flat for about 60 consecutive days, according to a AAA press release last week.
