Scarlett Johansson is under fire for her next project with “Ghost in the Shell” director Rupert Sanders. The actress is set to star in the crime biopic “Rub & Tug,” based on the real life story of Dante “Tex” Gill. Gill was a trans crime boss of the 1970s who ran several illegal massage parlors. In real life, Gill lived his life as a trans man, which led a lot of folks to inquire why a trans actor wasn’t considered for this role. When the website Bustle reached out to Johansson’s representative for a statement about the vocal concerns, it...

Thousands of mourners poured out to see the burial of the Mexican man put to death by lethal injection in Texas last month, a move that has sparked diplomatic tensions between the U.S. and the central American state. Friends and relatives carried the coffin of Mexican Edgar Tamayo to the cemetery in his home town of Miacatlan, Morelos state, amid an outpouring of grief from local residents. The 46-year-old Mexican was controversially executed in Texas less than two weeks ago for the killing of a Houston police officer in 1994, despite outrage from human rights groups and last minute appeals...

Border Patrol regional spokesman Henry Mendiola told Action 4 News that the agents conducted a consensual search of the home. Details on the incident were not immediately released but more than 120 immigrants were found inside. Action 4 News will bring you more on this story as it develops

Jonathan Torres’s is only 17-years-old, he said he is living his worst nightmare. After being pulled over by Santa Rosa police for a traffic violation his mother Dora was deported. "I’m angry at the cop. There wasn’t no need for him to call the Border Patrol. He could’ve just given her a ticket for the violation that she did," Torres said. Santa Rosa Police Investigator Douglas Montgomery said he had no choice but to alert Border Patrol, after responding to a call for help. On Thursday, police were notified Dora hit her brakes as another vehicle drove behind her along...

In the Rio Grande Valley, one of the most pressing issues during the US presidential race is what each candidate says about immigration. This resonates in south Texas and especially in Brownsville, where more than 90 per cent of residents are Latino. Barack Obama has tried to garner support amongst Latino voters with a last-ditch effort on immigration policy. Mitt Romney says he wants to see a solution to the immigration issue. He says illegal migrants should self-deport - that their lives will be so hard in the US that they will want to go back to their country of...

Fred Smith had long dreamed of the day that U.S. immigration officials would take a close look at the thick stack of papers he'd accumulated showing how deeply intertwined his life had become with his partner's since they met eight years ago at a church group dinner in Houston

Arizona Sen. John McCain continued a call for national unity in his first speech since losing the presidential election. Though the Republican presidential nominee has made television appearances as recently as Thursday night, his remarks at the Texas Tech commencement ceremony Friday were part of his first address since his conciliation speech, Tech Chancellor Kent Hance said in his introduction. The senator's remarks to 350 Tech masters and doctoral graduates of a conservative campus in a conservative state echoed the call for cooperation he asked of his voters that night in November. Americans must argue and defend their vision for...

Witness the definitive, irrefutable, immutable ranking of the most brilliant software programs ever hacked. Most red-blooded technologists will offer a quick opinion on what's the greatest software ever, but when you take the time to evaluate what makes software truly brilliant, the choices aren't so obvious. One of the most significant pieces of programming I know wasn't even software. Before the British built the Colossus machine, which translated German teletype code during World War II, it took the Allies up to six hours to decode a message and a day or more to pore over intelligence, draw conclusions, and pass...

Batman protects Gotham from the Joker; Superman defends Metropolis from Lex Luthor. Now a ragtag team of comic creators unite to save America from George W. Bush. Their superpower? Satire. Writer Joshua Dysart (Violent Messiahs, Swamp Thing), artist Brad Rader (Catwoman) and publisher Mike Wellman (Mac Afro, Gone South) have joined forces to create Tex! George Bush and the Fine Art of Character Assassination, a 24-page satire of the Bush administration followed by a heavily researched, 5-page appendix that details the issues involved. The comic portrays Bush as an unflattering super hero and explores his policies and practices on various...
