The Middle East Research Institute (MEMRI) has uncovered a tweet containing a photo of Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl standing and smiling with a Taliban commander. Bergdahl became the center of intense media scrutiny when stories of his desertion and sympathy for the Taliban dominated news that Obama had traded five Gitmo prisoners for his release on May 31. According to Fox News, the photo MEMRI found is "an undated photo" showing "an apparently happy Bergdahl posing with Taliban Commander Badruddin Haqqani."

Three weeks into its offensive against militants in the tribal region of North Waziristan, Pakistan's military has taken the media to see Miranshah, formerly a hotbed of Taliban activity.

To understand how bad this chummy photo is, you have to understand how bad Badruddin Haqqani is. The Haqqani Network has done the most damage to the US in Afghanistan and Badruddin Haqqani was one of three brothers running it.He was declared a terrorist and targeted by a drone strike. The Haqqani Network is something between Al Qaeda and the Taliban. Its Al Qaeda links have made it much deadlier than the ordinary Taliban and with Al Qaeda hardly present in Afghanistan even toward the end of Bush’s term, the Haqqani Network is the next best thing to it.It...

A photo of Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, smiling and posing with a former senior Taliban official in Afghanistan has been posted on Twitter. The undated photo, likely taken during Bergdahl’s five years in captivity, was posted on the social media site on Wednesday by @khorasan3, an account associated with the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. Along with the image were the words ‘#US Solider #Bergdahl with Martyr #Taliban Leader Badar'udin Haqqani(RH) S/O Shaykh Jalaludin Haqqani(HA).’

In his new book, “Dark Forces: The Truth About What Happened in Benghazi” writer Kenneth R. Timmerman explains how the US government’s efforts to arm the Libyan rebels backfired, flooding weapons into Syria. The Obama administration isn’t only giving the Taliban back its commanders — it’s giving them weapons. Miliary records and sources reveal that on July 25, 2012, Taliban fighters in Kunar province successfully targeted a US Army CH-47 helicopter with a new generation Stinger missile. They thought they had a surefire kill. But instead of bursting into flames, the Chinook just disappeared into the darkness as the American...

Many Americans remember the video posted on YouTube in January of 2012 showing U.S. Marines urinating on the corpses of Taliban terrorists in Afghanistan. (VIDEO) The images provoked international outrage. Some felt the Marines’ unlawful behavior was mitigated by the context of a long and bloody war against a brutal enemy. Others felt there was no excuse. But few people know what became of the case once it left the public eye: it collapsed under claims of unlawful interference at the highest level of the U.S. Marine Corps. And the key whistleblower leveling allegations is one of the prosecutors: Deputy...

Cable News Network has sued Blaine County seeking information from a 1999 police investigation involving the family of Bowe Bergdahl, the Wood River Valley soldier who spent five years in captivity of the Taliban. CNN says the report from the Blaine County Sheriff’s Office is subject to disclosure under Idaho public records laws. Sheriff Gene Ramsey has twice denied the network's request. The lawsuit was filed June 25 in District Court. A hearing is scheduled at 2 p.m. July 21 before District Judge Robert J. Elgee.

The U.S. Army has reported that it has found no evidence that Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl of Hailey engaged in any misconduct during his five years in captivity of the Taliban. The report stated that there is no evidence Bergdahl helped his captors while he was held after going missing from his Army outpost in eastern Afghanistan five years ago today, June 30, 2009. However, the Army has not concluded its investigation into the Bergdahl case. Officials still plan to invetsigate the circumstances of Bergdahl's capture by enemy forces. That investigation is expected to last several weeks or more. Bergdahl reportedly...

So there was a ransom in the works. Fox News heard whispers about that soon after Bergdahl was released. So did the Free Beacon, from an intel official who speculated that a criminal syndicate like the Haqqani Network would have been much more interested in cash than prisoners. If you believe BuzzFeed, though, it wasn’t the U.S. government that was considering a ransom, it was Bergdahl’s father. And it’s unclear if it was a pipe dream or something he might have actually pulled off. Also, Bergdahl’s parents reportedly had “extraordinary insider access” to the military’s hunt for their son, replete...

The Army has “no reason to believe” that Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl collaborated with his Taliban captors during his five years as a prisoner, as some have speculated, and he has not said anything that might incriminate him in other misconduct, Army officials said Wednesday. A two-star Army general is currently investigating the exact circumstances of Bergdahl’s 2009 disappearance from his post in Afghanistan, which led to his capture by the Taliban-allied Haqqani network. Investigators have not yet interviewed Bergdahl, who was released May 31 as part of a controversial prisoner exchange with the Taliban. He is now living at a...

LASHKAR GAH Afghanistan (Reuters) - Taliban militants have been locked in fighting with Afghan forces this week to wrest control of a southern district, provincial authorities said on Wednesday, in a struggle that has killed or wounded dozens of people. The Taliban launched its summer offensive in the middle of May and has ramped up attacks across the country, a major concern for the government, as most foreign troops leave by the end of the year. As many as 800 Taliban fighters have targeted government offices and police outposts in the Sangin district of Helmand province, said provincial government spokesman...

Two platoon mates reveal some of the strange encounters they had with Bowe Bergdahl before he went missing. On Sunday, June 1st, less than 24 hours after the White House’ Rose Garden press conference announcing the trade for and release of Bowe Bergdahl, I was contacted by a man who told me “I work for the Pentagon.” He went on to tell me that “the American people need to know the facts regarding this ‘Traitor Trade’ for Bowe Bergdahl, and I want your help in informing them. They need to know about this whole treasonous mess. I read your...

U.S. Army Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl, who spent five years as a Taliban prisoner of war before being released last month, has been discharged from a military hospital in Texas and will continue treatment as an outpatient, the Army said Sunday. Bergdahl was transferred from Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas, to the nearby Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston, said Army spokeswoman Lieutenant Colonel Carol McClelland. "It’s a sign of progression, showing he's no longer a patient of a hospital," McClelland said. Bergdahl's next phase of recovery, during which he'll continue to get medical care and undergo psychological...

Nawaz govt responsible for loss of life, property *Militant group warns foreign firms to leave Pakistan. PESHAWAR, Pakistan – The Taliban on Monday warned foreign firms to leave Pakistan and vowed retaliatory strikes against the government after the Pakistan Army launched a long-awaited offensive in a tribal area. The statement came as Pakistan's major cities braced for a backlash by deploying thousands of soldiers and paramilitaries while placing hospitals on high alert for incoming casualties. The offensive on North Waziristan was launched a week after a brazen insurgent attack on the Jinnah International Airport in Karachi. “We warn all foreign...

Hundreds of Afghans protested in the capital on Saturday against alleged fraud in last week’s presidential runoff, forcing a closure of the airport road amid escalating tensions over what Western officials had hoped would be a smooth transfer of power. Former Foreign Minister Abdullah Abdullah, who is running against Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai, a former finance minister, has accused electoral officials and others of trying to rig the June 14 vote against him. Abdullah announced this week that he was severing ties with the Independent Election Commission and would refuse to recognize any results it releases. He also suggested that the...

War On Terror: As what the feds call "other than Mexicans" and MS-13 gang members stream across our border, just what is keeping the head of ISIS from keeping his promise, "I'll see you in New York"? We already know how ruthless the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) is, so much so that media pundits such as Kirsten Powers, who should know better, insist that even al-Qaida is said to be distancing itself from the group. You know: the same al-Qaida that slit throats with box cutters and then turned passenger jets filled with fuel into cruise missiles...

Last week, this unequivocal declaration sounded like a micalculation and misread of the situation: “These five guys are not a threat to the United States,” says Clinton. “They are a threat to the safety and security of Afghanistan and Pakistan. It’s up to those two countries to make the decision once and for all that these are threats to them. So I think we may be kind of missing the bigger picture here. We want to get an American home, whether they fell off the ship because they were drunk or they were pushed or they jumped, we try...

The five Taliban members who were freed by President Obama from their Guantanamo Bay confines and swapped for U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl are now living the life of luxury in Doha, relaxing in a mansion and under the care of a private masseuse, one Daily Best journalist discovered.

While many questions remain unanswered surrounding the reported kidnapping of U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, one crucial fact overlooked by the establishment media is not debatable: The Taliban-aligned Haqqani network that held him is closely linked with the Pakistani government’s intelligence agency, which in turn has been a close ally of the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency. Indeed, the Islamist terror group has at various points been openly supported by the CIA and Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) since it was founded with U.S. government backing in the mid-1970s — and top American officials know it. Based on news reports, it appears...

Summer doldrums is here. That time between the end of basketball and hockey season, and before football season starts, when lazy baseball games stretch on, the days are long, and everyone takes their vacations. There’s plenty of reasons the Obama White House would like us to just forget the next two months and take a national vacation. Let’s review the White House’s woe-list: Lois Lerner’s imminent sacrifice has been kicked down the road with the IRS claim that the dog computer ate her homework email. Conveniently, only the emails from the time period where she was (allegedly) masterminding the...
