  • LeBron James lied about listening to Migos in 2010, and has a history of telling little fibs

LeBron James is the GOAT when it comes to telling small, meaningless lies. The NBA community has been mourning the death of rapper Takeoff, whose real name is Kirshnik Ball, since he was killed in Houston last week. Takeoff was 1/3rd of Migos, the popular rap trio from Atlanta that went to the top of the charts with their sophomore album “Culture” and were often seen in NBA circles. LeBron James was asked about Takeoff’s death on Sunday afternoon after the Los Angeles Lakers lost the Cleveland Cavaliers, 114-100, in LA. His answer went viral for all the wrong reasons. James...
  • (SCTV’s) Bob and Doug McKenzie Return to Edmonton as Statues During COVID-19

Of all characters, it figures these two hoseheads would have trouble with two-metre social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic. But after years in the making, life-sized bronze statues of SCTV’s inseparable Bob and Doug McKenzie appeared on 103 Street and 103 Avenue Tuesday night under a gentle snow, wearing tuques and jeans and clutching open stubbies — what we Canucks used to call short beer bottles back in the day, eh. The lively and beautiful colour-patina statue is a collaborative effort between accomplished Edmonton sculptor Ritchie Velthuis, the non-profit SCTV Monument Committee, Calgary’s Bronzart Casting and actors Rick Moranis and...
  • Boeing 787 Dreamliner wows with near-vertical takeoff

This article, Boeing 787 Dreamliner wows with near-vertical takeoff, originally appeared on CNET.com. Hold on to your stomach. Here goes the 787-9. The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner is no tiny flower. The plane holds 280 passengers, has a nearly 200-foot (about 60-meter) wingspan and is over 200 feet in length. It's smaller than a 747, but you still might expect it to be a lumbering creature, raising itself into the air in a gentle arc.

The airplane starts accelerating down the runway. In the flight deck, Captain Paul Stemer feels the weight of the situation. "It's a lot of mass, a lot of energy. I have to stay ahead of it." It's up to Capt. Stemer to command RC521, the second 747-8 Freighter, into defying gravity and lifting more than 1 million pounds into the air. It's a feat neither he nor any Boeing Flight Test pilot before him has ever attempted. While the airplane gathers speed, 100 knots, 120, 140, now 160 knots, the amount of available runway quickly evaporates. RC521 still needs to...

  • America's Muslims Aren't as Assimilated as You Think

If only the Muslims in Europe — with their hearts focused on the Islamic world and their carry-on liquids poised for destruction in the West — could behave like the well-educated, secular and Americanizing Muslims in the United States, no one would have to worry. So runs the comforting media narrative that has developed around the approximately 6 million Muslims in the United States, who are often portrayed as well-assimilated and willing to leave their religion and culture behind in pursuit of American values and lifestyle. But over the past two years, I have traveled the country, visiting mosques, interviewing...
  • Help Free Bob the Moose (Canadian government gone amok )

ur mission today, should you choose to accept, is to vigorously launch the Free Bob campaign -- to set loose what's left of a moose that is being held in captivity by enforcement officials within the ministry of natural resources. It may seem frivolous, but it is not. Frivolous is to concern ourselves with today's speech from the throne, with Iraq and Afghanistan, with the price of gas at the pumps, and with whether Pamela Anderson's near-baring of her puppies at the Junos will save a single seal. Those scenarios are out of our control. We are here today to...

4/3/2006 - WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio (AFPN) -- Air Force Research Laboratory scientists are working on a novel unmanned air vehicle called SkyTote that will take off and land vertically like a helicopter, but also transition into horizontal flight like a conventional aircraft. SkyTote's primary mission is to deliver a payload to a specific point within a tactically relevant range and time. It is a Small Business Innovative Research Phase II effort orchestrated by AeroVironment Inc of Monrovia, Calif., for AFRL's Air Vehicles Directorate. According to AFRL's Tom Cord, SkyTote program manager, the aircraft is a concept demonstrator and...

I was reading the text of the interview between Kalb and Rather and learned that the Rather story on Bush's aborted National Guard service was thwarted by "blogs" called "Free Republic" and "Buckhead." I did find a Buckhead.org, but it just seems to be a bland Atlanta area news source, so I don't know the story in that. So I came here. And guess what? Nothing. Your story page is nothing more than boilerplate site/conservative mission comments. I really don't know why this blog is meaningful at all. I would guess the main stream media has nothing to worry about.

Beagle 2 mission was doomed long before take-off, claims inquiry By Robert Matthews, Science Correspondent (Filed: 23/05/2004) The Beagle 2 mission to Mars was a disaster waiting to happen, according to the official inquiry into the debacle, whose findings will be made public tomorrow. Hailed as Britain's first probe to another planet, Beagle 2 was supposed to have touched down on the Red Planet on Christmas Day last year and perform experiments to detect signs of alien life. Critics of Prof Pillinger warned that Beagle 2 had not been adequately tested Instead, all contact was lost with the probe just...

Shuttle Doomed at Takeoff Telltale Heat Spike Was Recorded After Debris Strike April 18 — Investigators now have the strongest evidence yet that the space shuttle Columbia's left wing was critically punctured during liftoff, when falling debris started the fatal chain of events that led to the breakup of the shuttle when it re-entered Earth's atmosphere, ABCNEWS has learned. The evidence comes from an old magnetic tape recorder that is part of the Orbiter Experiment Support System, sources said. It shows an unusual temperature increase in a key sensor just behind the leading edge of the left wing near the...

(Salt Lake City-AP) -- Two pilots escaped injury this morning when a military training plane blew a tire upon landing at the Salt Lake International Airport and veered off the runway. According to airport spokeswoman Barbara Gann, the accident happened about 10:30 a-m. The plane was a T-38 Talon -- a two-seat training jet. The plane originated in Missouri and was passing through Salt Lake City. Gann said two of four runways were closed to tow the plane away out of the grassy field. Flight operations were NOT affected. A spokeswoman at Hill Air Force Base said the plane wasn't...
