A stranger bashed a 25-year-old woman in the head with a baseball bat in an apparently unprovoked attack in Chelsea this month, cops said as they released the first images of the brute. The victim was walking on Seventh Avenue near West 23rd Street around 10 p.m. Feb. 8 when the menace suddenly struck her with the weapon, authorities said. The senseless assault left herwith a cut and bruising, and she was taken to Lenox Hill Hospital, where she was listed in stable condition, police said.

As a child attending a private evangelical elementary school and a non-denominational “Bible” church, I memorized hundreds of Bible verses. I was trained to view every issue – science, literature, history, definitely politics – through a biblical worldview.I do not ever recall being told to memorize any Bible verses about immigrants. But with recent developments in immigration reform under the Biden administration, many more refugees will be arriving in America in the coming years. They will need the care and support from local churches. And we will need to teach our children what the Bible has to say about them....

Since the topic of "comprehensive immigration reform" has begun to bubble up again in the Senate, being mentioned by Chuck Schumer and John McCain within a few days of each other, I wanted to open a few questions for discussion. First: We have a complete legal framework to govern immigration. These are the People's laws, passed by our representatives in Congress assembled and signed by Presidents from Truman to Bush. This set of laws is presumptively legitimate, under our sovereign authority. Reformers refer to this system of valid laws originating from We the People as "broken". Question: What is broken...

Two cross-dressing men who were shot at by National Security Agency police when they disobeyed orders at a heavily guarded gate had just stolen a car from a man who picked them up for a motel “party,” police said Tuesday. One suspect was killed and the other was injured, along with an NSA police officer, as the driver of the stolen SUV apparently tried to get away from the guards. The SUV’s owner, a 60-year-old man from Baltimore who has not been publicly identified, told investigators that he had picked up the two strangers in Baltimore. They arrived around 7:30...

As we near the 238th anniversary of U.S. independence, many Americans are wondering if we are indeed an independent nation with sovereign borders, given that tens of thousands of unaccompanied children are streaming across the southern border. Have we become strangers in our own land? On Tuesday, two very disturbing stories concerning our border crisis surfaced in the news. These stories should put goose bumps on all Americans. Fox News’ Todd Starnes broke the news Tuesday that a private security force contracted by the government had threatened doctors working at a refugee camp to keep them from disclosing information about...

GENEVA — Despite the rhetoric from both sides over the need for stricter gun control regulations — and the fear instilled by a rash of random shootings in public places nationwide — statistics show relatively few people will fall victim to violent, firearm-related crimes committed by strangers, according to a new study by the federal Bureau of Justice Statistics. That study shows strangers committed about 38 percent of non-fatal, violent crimes including rape, robbery and assault in 2010, the most recent data available. Of that amount, only an average of 10 percent used a firearm while committing the crime. In...

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- There's a good news update on a home ransacked and spray painted by a pair of teen burglars in northwest Houston. While the burglars are now in custody, community members and Marines stepped in to help the homeowner -- a 93-year-old World War II veteran. The Marines quickly marched into the defaced home of WWII veteran Elbert Wood, eager to help. "It's important that he knows we're here for him and that we're always his brothers," Major Roberto Rodriguez said. The presence of these local Marines is just one example of the outpouring of support for Wood...

By faith he [Abraham] made his home in the promised land like a stranger in a foreign country; he lived in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who were heirs with him of the same promise. Hebrews 11:9 God clearly told Abraham to go to a foreign land. Everything about this new land was different for Abraham and his family. It took a long time to understand the culture and the ways of the people living there. When he was new to the land, everything was peculiar. Not bad necessarily, but different. Like many of you reading this, I have...

A transgendered woman who was told to use the men's room at Loehmann's has filed a complaint alleging discrimination by the discount retail chain. Jane Galla, who describes herself as a regular Loehmann's shopper, says in a complaint filed Dec. 1 with the city Commission on Human Rights and announced yesterday that she was denied access to the Chelsea store's fitting rooms and rest rooms. "I felt humiliated when I was publicly told to use the men's fitting room" in April, the woman said through a statement from the Transgender Legal Defense and Education Fund. "I've been living as a...
