As the National Rifle Association prepares to convene its annual members’ meetings and exhibits this weekend in St. Louis, Missouri – from whence this column will be reporting later in the week – an annual orgy of media mayhem is about to unfold, wrapping up with an anti-gun demonstration outside the convention center, this one dedicated to slain Florida teen Trayvon Martin. For the next six days at least, NRA members from Seattle to Sarasota who are headed to St. Louis will be slandered, smeared and demonized for the sin of defending a constitutionally-protected, fundamental civil right. Just take it...

St. Louis Today reported: When is the line crossed between better health and surveillance? In early 2012, wristwatch-like devices called Polar active monitors will be used by older students in PE classes at all 18 Parkway elementary schools. District officials say the devices should help improve the students’ fitness and academic achievement. Later this school year, the district plans to collect data about activity levels and even sleep patterns for a week at a time. It will have the students wear the devices round the clock. Some parents and legal experts are raising privacy concerns about at least that aspect...

A man pulled a gun and shot a teenager in the buttocks Thursday after the teen punched him in the face, police say. No arrests have been made yet. Police are still investigating and could seek assault charges against the man and the teen, said Katie O'Sullivan, a spokeswoman for the St. Louis Police Department. The incident began when the 46-year-old man got into an argument with the 18-year-old male. The teen punched the man in the face. According to a police summary, the man told police he "feared for his safety, so he took out a gun and fired...

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Was President Barack Obama too busy watching the “Operation Repo” marathon or something else last Friday night? When KMOX host Charlie Brennan asked now-retired St. Louis Cardinals manager Tony La Russa how the traditional call of congratulations from the White House went, La Russa suddenly realized that…it never happened. “That’s a good point, I hadn’t really even thought about that,” replied a surprised-sounding La Russa, who can be forgiven for having a few other things on his mind over the past week. “As we were getting into the World Series we had a call from the...

October 28, 2011--The St. Louis Cardinals have won the world series in an improbable, luck-filled and quirky convergence of events. For example, the number of dribblers Lance Berkman hit that rolled like bocci balls through the infield was exceeded only by the dribbles in Tony LaRussa's depends. Okay, let's allow these Cardinal fan cretins a little superficial happiness for once. It has probably been years since some of these fat losers have even cracked a smile. But the real story of the 2011 world series is that the all time villan of MLB, Tony LaRussa,a piece of human garbage and...

The local media would not release the race of the teens but the “knock out game” is popular with black youth mobs in St. Louis. KSDK reported: St. Louis police are looking for a group of 10 to 15 people who brutally beat a 51-year-old man. It happened near the public library in the 3300 block of South Grand around 11:40 p.m. on October 21. St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay was the first person to spot the victim. He tells NewsChannel 5 he was driving along Grand with his security officer when they saw the crowd from a distance. Slay...

I've been seeing this Internet lie sweep across the Internet in the last 24 hours or so, claiming that St. Louis Swat is keeping people from getting their money from the bank, and threatening the Occupy St. Louis group. ACTUALLY, the video is from an August 12th Protest Rally called "Midwest Rising", featuring all of the useful idiot suspects of the Radical Left. From the Rally Website: "Who: 400 people from 50 different organizations, including a cross-section of labor, community and climate organizations. Whether you believe that man has ruined the earth’s climate or not we can all agree that Washington’s bickering about emergency FEMA funding does nothing to fight the effects of global climate change. According to the New York Times, Hurricane Irene earlier this year was the first US catastrophe of the Obama administration to make the top 10 list, joining the insurmountable Bush catastrophes of Katrina and 911. Climate experts Bill McKibben and Al Gore agree that Obama has failed with only half hearted efforts to reverse the rising oceans. A search at usaspending.gov (Sponsored by Senator Obama under the...

The house, in the 8800 block of Snowhill Court, was raided early Friday morning by the county's tactical operations, K-9, and special investigating units. ST. PETERS • Steve Randall strolled into the Starbucks at Mid Rivers Mall Drive and Mexico Road one recent Thursday evening wearing his Glock 21C pistol in a holster at his side. Randall's imposing height and short haircut might have led some to believe he was a police officer. Perhaps they were too busy to notice the gun on his hip or the hips of two men who joined him. For Randall, 39, of Overland, this was just another "open-carrying" gathering with friends, something he says he does for two reasons — to provide personal protection and to let Missourians...
  • Knockout King: Kids call it a game. Academics call it a bogus trend. Cops call it murder.

On the blustery morning of April 16, Hoang Nguyen and his wife, Yen, left their Dutchtown apartment to go grocery shopping, a Saturday routine. After bidding goodbye to their 25-year-old son, Kenny, the couple strolled east on Chippewa Street, crossing Spring and Giles avenues, then headed south on Grand Boulevard toward their market. Hoang, a 72-year-old retired schoolteacher and avid painter, immigrated with his wife to St. Louis three-and-a-half years ago from their native Vietnam. The couple wanted to be closer to their daughter, Lan, who'd married an American and settled in south county. Kenny joined his parents six months...

Researchers reveal how prehistoric Native Americans of Cahokia made copper artifactsEVANSTON, Ill. --- Northwestern University researchers ditched many of their high-tech tools and turned to large stones, fire and some old-fashioned elbow grease to recreate techniques used by Native American coppersmiths who lived more than 600 years ago. This prehistoric approach to metalworking was part of a metallurgical analysis of copper artifacts left behind by the Mississippians of the Cahokia Mounds, who lived in southeastern Illinois from 700 until 1400 A.D. The study was published in the Journal of Archaeological Science in May. The researchers were able to identify how...
