  • Bradley Cooper to Star in Steven Spielberg’s ‘Bullitt’ Remake

    11/17/2022 4:16:31 PM PST · by nickcarraway · 70 replies
Bradley Cooper is set to star in Steven Spielberg’s next film, an original feature based on the character of Frank Bullitt, the no-nonsense San Francisco cop played by Steve McQueen in the 1968 action-thriller “Bullitt.” Josh Singer (“The Post,” “Spotlight”) is writing the screenplay for the film, which is currently in development at Warner Bros. Though plot details haven’t been revealed, the forthcoming production is expected to follow Bullitt on an entirely different exploit than the McQueen original’s. Warner Bros. released the original “Bullitt,” which was directed by Peter Yates and based on the 1963 novel “Mute Witness.” In what...

It was the highest price ever paid for a Ford Mustang at auction, according to David Morton, marketing manager for the auction house in Kissimmee, near Orlando. The buyer has not been publicly identified. The unrestored muscle car, its "highland green" paint looking rusty and black upholstery splitting apart, starred in a 10-minute sequence in the 1968 film, getting airborne a few times as it sped through the hilly streets of San Francisco. The car was auctioned without a reserve, or minimum sale price, a risky decision that could have forced the owners to sell low. McQueen filmed with the...

Robert Evans passed away on Saturday night at the age of 89. The Hollywood legend made his mark on the industry starting in the 1967 when he became the head of Paramount Pictures. The Godfather, Chinatown, The Godfather Part II, Barefoot in the Park, The Odd Couple, Rosemary's baby, Harold and Maude, Serpico, True Grit, The Italian Job and The Great Gatsby were just a few of the films released during his tenure. At the same time, Evans was thrust into the spotlight when his third of seven wives, Ali McGraw, left him for Steven McQueen. Evans later fell on...

The iconic car emerged earlier this year after years out of the spotlight. The Ford Mustang GT 390 driven by Steve McQueen in cult classic Bullitt is set to make its first ever appearance outside of the United States at this month's Goodwood Festival of Speed. The car is one of the most famous and iconic cars from the silver screen. Two were used in the production – a stunt car (serial number ‘558), and another (serial number ‘559) which was driven by McQueen himself. The stunt car was uncovered in Mexico last year, but the hero car has been...

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes (Romans 1:16a, NASB).“What makes you different?” Steve asked. “I’m a follower of Jesus Christ,” responded Sammy.” The Christian faith of one of the most popular and highly paid 1960s-70s actors is the fulcrum on which Steve McQueen: American Icon is balanced. Greg Laurie, pastor, author, and long-time McQueen fan, narrates the engaging and entertaining documentary that is coming to select theaters this Thursday, September 28, for one night only. Laurie was drawn to McQueen’s story largely because of...

The remake of Roots has gained widespread critical acclaim – but not from Snoop Dogg, who posted a short video on Instagram on Monday criticising the show, and suggesting that African Americans should not watch it. In the video, the rapper said that he was fed up with watching films and TV shows that depicted the abuse of black Americans. “12 Years a Slave, Roots, Underground, I can’t watch none of that shit,” Snoop Dogg said, also taking aim at the Steve McQueen-directed Oscar-winning film and the WGN TV series about slaves in Georgia escaping via an underground railroad, which...

Steve McQueen, who committed to Christ late in life, TV show 'Wanted: Dead or Alive' is now featured each weekend on the MeTv Network From 1963 to 1978, Steve McQueen was considered by movie fans and big screen insiders as one of the main leading actors in Hollywood. The rugged faced actor's roles defined "cool" and his persona was idolized by men and women alike, yet he remained unfazed by Hollywood's glitter. Late in his life the famous actor finally realized his need for God and decided to commit his life to Christ. Terrance Steven McQueen was born in Beech...

Today's MFASA features the only film to star both the King of Cool(Republican and later in life born-again Christian, Steve McQueen) and the Queen of Hot(sweet Lutheran girl Ann-Margret). McQueen's the title character, a young hotshot card player who goes up against the Man(Edward G. Robinson) in a high tension poker game in Depression-era New Orleans. A-M(as Melba, the bad girl or "Ginger" of the film) and Tuesday Weld(as Christian, the good girl or "Mary Ann" of the film) are the women in his life. They both look more like swingin' 60s chicks than 1930s women but hey, they're both...

PHOENIXVILLE, Pa., - Fans of the 1958 horror classic "The Blob" came to Phoenixville, Pa., Friday to celebrate the movie at the theater where its most famous scene was filmed. The climax of "BlobFest" at the Colonial Theatre was a re-enactment of that scene, in which the audience runs out screaming and trying to escape The Blob, KYW-TV, Philadelphia reported. The day for the festival was chosen, of course, because it was Friday the 13th. The low-budget movie about a pulsating alien life form that grows bigger and bigger by ingesting everything in its path featured Steven McQueen in his...

I always liked that guy's films, own a couple of 'em. What an interesting read. Go to Wiki sometime and put his name in, wow. That guy was cool. I guess I didn't realize he died so young (ha, 50, I'm older than that). I can identify with him so much, what a trip. I love that film "Le Mans" because I am a racing film. It is basically stupid, except for the tasty automobiles, but I watch it every few months and always get a tear. I'm weird like that about films.

Three Weeks in Steve McQueen's World In the spring of 1963, Steve McQueen was on the brink of superstardom, already popular from his big-screen breakout as one of The Magnificent Seven and just a couple months away from entering the Badass Hall of Fame with the release of The Great Escape. Intrigued by his dramatic backstory and his off-screen exploits — McQueen was a reformed delinquent who got his thrills racing cars and motorcycles — LIFE sent photographer John Dominis to California to hang out with the 33-year-old actor and see what he could get. Three weeks and more than...

Now 45 years old and revamped for 2010 with new styling and more powerful V-8, the "pony car" that debuted in 1964 is strikingly muscular, more energetic than before and thoroughly cool for a modern buyer. You dont even have to pretend to be Steve McQueen, the lead actor in the 1968 film "Bullitt" who famously drove a Mustang in one of Hollywoods best chase scenes, to enjoy the new Mustangs unique persona.

"Nevada Smith"-classic western starring one of my favorite movie cowboys, the legendary Steve McQueen is on Turner Classic Movies today at 12:00 PM EST. Co-starring Brian Keith as his foster father, Karl Malden, Martin Landau, Arthur Kennedy as his adversaries, Raf Vallone as a compassionate and wise priest and the late and lovely Suzanne Pleshette(in one of her best performances as the smoky voiced Cajun named Pilar), Janet Margolin and Joanna Moore(in an unbilled part) as the women in his life. Directed by Henry Hathaway("The Sons of Katie Elder") and a great score by Alfred Newman. Definitely worth catching if...
